POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Youth Director, the Family Programs Coordinator is responsible for overseeing Kidzone, creating a welcoming environment, and connecting family members to Family Events at the Alexander YMCA. They must run the program in with safety in the forefront. The Family Programs Coordinator is responsible for managing the functions of the program in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.

The Family Programs Coordinator is responsible for managing the functions of the program in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Promotes and delivers high-quality family programs serving members and program participants with an intentional focus on families, relationships and engagement
- Actively accountable for Kid Zone care that includes all aspects of Kids Zone programs; program quality, scheduling, sharing upcoming event information, an explanation of programs offered and is actively updated with the member's best interest in mind.
- Serves as part of the membership engagement team focusing on member engagement through family programming including but not limited to kid zone care, families with dependents, mental health initiatives, and programming ensuring consistency with the YMCA mission and aimed at inclusion, diversity, and creativity.
- Assists Director in creating innovative programming to address identified needs in our Y and community to enhance our current offerings.
- Builds positive relationships with members and participants by serving needs and concerns and taking initiative to provide solutions through excellent customer service.
- Creates a team environment that concentrates on delivering exceptional service to members and participants.
- Opens, closes and supports weekend facility coverage as well becomes a proficient power user in Personify Go and Personify 360. .
- Maintains a flexible work schedule, serving as the shift supervisor one evening per week and one weekend per month.
- Responsible for to ensuring child-are areas are in good order, welcoming and clean.
- Leads high quality staff meetings.
- Other duties as determined by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred and/or 1-2 years of related experience
- High School diploma and 1-2 years experience in Childcare or related field.
- Must have a high level of initiative, be a self-starter and have the ability to develop relationships with members
- Position requires the following certifications: Basic Life Support, Emergency Oxygen and First Aid.
- Ability relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Attention to detail, with a consistent high level of responsiveness and follow-up
- Must have commitment to the mission of the YMCA and uphold its values and ethics.
- Multi-lingual desired but not required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
- The employee is often required to: climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for extended period of time, walk, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Must have the ability and patience to instruct classes while using effective communication and human relations skills to handle situations with people of all socioeconomic levels.
- Must have the ability to conduct, demonstrate and safely lead classes at the intensity level formatted for participants.
- Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.
