Our Family Resource Center helps families identify what is needed to maintain the integrity of their family, to decrease or alleviate stress and to become full participants in their communities. Our experienced team connects families with needed services and supports, both inside and outside Northeast Arc. We connect self-advocates, parents, and professionals with workshops on vital topics such as behavior supports, estate planning, special education rights, self-care, health relationships and more. We also provide free and low-cost events for families to connect in a supportive, low-stress environment.
The Family Resource Center serves the following communities: Beverly, Danvers, Essex, Gloucester, Hamilton, Hathorne, Lynn, Manchester, Marblehead, Middleton, Nahant, Peabody, Rockport, Salem, Swampscott, Topsfield and Wenham.
Job Summary: The Family Resource Specialist participates in the delivery of family support services. The Family Resource Specialist assists families in the process of identifying and accessing supports necessary to alleviate stress and promote the health and well-being of the family.
Major Responsibilities:
- Participates in case management of families that have been prioritized by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS). Assists families in the development and implementation of annual Family Support Plans. May require occasional home visits.
- Delivers, tracks and documents family support services for families served by the program including:
- Flexible Funding: Works with DDS and Program Director of Family Resource Center to identify families in need. Assists with managing expenditures of the flexible funding, requiring high attention to detail.
- Service Navigation: Provides comprehensive and individualized information, guidance, and support to families to address their needs, connects them to potential resources, assists with problem-solving, and assists in navigating the service system.
- Events and Family Activities: Attends and represents FRC at meetings, resource fairs, seminars, and conferences. Assists in the implementation of community-based activities. Offers in person activities on a monthly basis.
- Support Groups: Works with the team to respond to specific requests for parent support groups and training arising through Information and Referral calls or through annual surveys.
- Social Media: Participates in and encourages families to connect to Northeast Arc through social media. Contributes materials and pictures from events for the program’s newsletter and the agency’s social media platforms.
- Information and Referral: Uses resource database to search for necessary goods, services and supports. Maintains the database and keeps it current.
- Crisis Intervention: Assists families in crisis by actively listening, delivering family supports as available, and by notifying the Program Director, Division Director, North Shore DDS office, and, when necessary, other authorities (Department of Children and Families, Police etc.).
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in related field
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
- Knowledge of Community based service is required
- Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred
- Advanced computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
Job Type: Fulltime
Pay Rate: $21-$22 based on experience and education
