Position Summary
The HopeSparks Bilingual Family Support Specialist will provide direct service to children, youth, and families throughout Pierce County in collaboration with a variety of community partners. These support services are provided in the family's home, community, and/or via telehealth (depending on the client's need and contract requirements) to support and build on family strengths. HopeSparks Family Support Services program is currently providing the following services:
- Readiness to Learn with Franklin Pierce School District
- Community Healthcare Workers with Elevate Health utilizing the Readiness To Learn model, serving the areas of Tacoma Public Schools and Puyallup School District
- Relatives Raising Children Kinship Navigation with Pierce County Community Services and DSHS
- Pierce County Early Childhood Network Bilingual Community Outreach Specialist with First 5 Fundamentals
- Family Connects Pierce County with First 5 Fundamentals
The Bilingual Family Support Specialist may be asked to provide service delivery for any of our contracts and would be provided adequate training and support if transitioning into a new service delivery role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Must be bilingual and able to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently.
- Must be able to engage children, youth, and families in a full range of family support services either in-person or via telehealth (through video and/or phone conferencing), including:
- in-home and/or remote case management services to families in order to build skills in parenting, child development, health, promotion, and violence prevention
- collaboration in a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary team in a manner that promotes mutual respect, open communication, and joint problem solving and which values and builds the unique strengths of all service providers
- organizing and facilitating parent support/education groups and community development activities as appropriate/needed
- Maintain program records and files, compile data, and prepare reports as needed to comply with funding requirements, making files accessible to other HopeSparks team members and contract partners.
- HopeSparks will provide supervision for the Family Support Specialist that will include, but not limited to, case consultation, quality assurances, ongoing training, and liaison between HopeSparks and FSS contracts.
- Submit reports to the Director of Family Support Services on a regular basis in a timely manner, per contract deliverables.
Qualifications
- Must be bilingual and able to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently
- Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in one of the human services field OR year-for-year direct experience in a like position.
- Possess a valid driver's license and use an automobile for home visits and local travel.
- Willingness to participate and provide all necessary documentation for both State Patrol and FBI checks; may be required to share documentation with Contract partner agencies.

- Familiarity with children and family service delivery systems.
- Residence in or near identified community or region.
- Comfortable and effective public speaking skills.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a highly adaptive environment.

Job Conditions
Work may be performed in a client's home, an agency office setting, or community partner location.
- Ability to stand, sit, talk, and listen/hear for extended periods (8 hours) daily in order to perform administrative duties
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle or write for extended periods (8 hours) daily
- Ability to reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance to perform filing duties for extended periods (6-8 hours) daily
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs to access clients' homes
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds for filing duties
- Ability to focus and see items with close, distance, color and peripheral vision, and depth perception to drive, perform computer work, and file (8 hours)
