SUMMARY:
We are seeking a passionate and innovative Farm Manager for Hōkūala and Timbers Kauaʻi Residence Club. The Farm Manager is the heart and soul of the organic Farm at Hōkūala. The Farm Manager curates selections of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and other edible plants, root tubers, seeds, and flowers. The Farm Manger is responsible for creating a welcoming and immersive experience for everyone who visits The Farm at Hōkūala.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Essential functions as defined are ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed by incumbents within this classification. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Leadership
- Act as welcoming host to owners, guests, employees, and other clients to explore the farms beauty and bounty.
- Lead, and train others to lead, educational garden tours and workshops, sharing names (Hawaiian names as appropriate), use and history, and sustainable practices.
- Manage The Farm’s daily operations, including planting schedules, irrigation, drainage, pest control.
- Work alone and as a leader of assigned landscaping teams to ensure The Farm is kept safe, clean, and in a condition to host owners and guests.
- Manage owner farm produce package or baskets as needed for arrival amenities.
- Collaborate with our culinary team to tailer harvests for seasonal menus and special events.
- Ensure farm facilities and equipment are safe, regularly cleaned, and maintained.
- To welcome owner use, keep Farm Hale, Farm Pavilion, and surrounding areas in clean and useable condition at all times.
Farm Management
· Prioritize owner and guest satisfaction.
· Establish and maintain best practices for growth and superior aesthetics throughout The Farm.
· Cultivate and maintain a variety of fruits and vegetables, ensuring the highest quality produce.
Compliance
- Ensure all routine and special farm operations follow federal, state, and local regulations with special attention to application and monitoring of pest controls.
Financial
- Assist in developing the Farm budget to ensure cost-effective operations without compromising service quality.
- Control expenses related to staffing, supplies, and equipment.
- Provide monthly financial reports on monthly expenses and variances.
- Prepare owners tree planting sites, ready groundwork, including soil amendments, mulching, and watering for assurance of successful tree growth and longevity.
Reporting
- Provide internal communications to keep employees of the resort; community services; real estate; Sales; and other interested parties, providing updates on The Farm at Hōkūala operations and activities
- Provide regular status reporting to the Executive Members of the Hōkūala regarding the progress of The Farm operations, condition, and production.
Common goals
- Work with other department managers to ensure property goals are achieved.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge and/or skill required.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma/GED, supplemented by technical or college course work training in a trade.
- At least 4 years of experience in organic farm operations, with at least 1 year in a leadership role preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and manage budgets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and facility management software.
· Previous experience and ability to safely operate various farm equipment such as, but not limited to, mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, sod-cutters, lifts, automobiles, trucks, oversized trucks, skid steer, and other small to heavy equipment used to maintain 16+ acre farm facility.
Required Knowledge and Skills
· Strong leadership and supervisory skills to manage a team.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team members, owners, and guests.
· Detail oriented and committed to maintaining high quality standards for production and presentation.
· Knowledge of health and safety regulations, standard farm practices and procedures.
· Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
· Proficient in using standard computer software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook,)
· Correct business English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
· Techniques for dealing with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, in person, by video conference, and over the telephone.
· Valid driver’s license.
