Job Description:
What do you know about the Nebraska Department of Agriculture? The Department is a very diverse agency with approximately 26 different cash accounts, approximately 14 federal funds and performs similar accounting/budgeting duties for seven commodity board agencies. We are 90% regulatory and 10% promotion with 4 focus areas Food Safety Consumer Protection, Animal Plant Health Protection, Supervision, an Promotion.
The individual in this position will work with other staff to facilitate, coordinate, and administer important deadlines and reimbursements for federal activities in the Department. This position is also the primary contact and administrator of Federal ARPA funds associated with the Independent Processors Assistance Program. Majority of federal funds received by the Department are used for internal operations including LFFM, AFRPS, MFRPS, FIFRA, and NADPRP.

Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or other appropriate curriculum, plus two years of significantly related work experience, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to the above requirements. Experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Other: Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Job duties
- Review invoices and other requests for grant reimbursement, verify accuracy and eligibility, create claims, and procurement documents.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, program managers, grant recipients and Federal counterparts.
- Draw federal funds down from EzFed and other grant management systems.
- Analyze and track grant expenditures to forecast future spending and allowance within budget.
- Reconcile time keeping records for grant staff and Administration.
- Create payable and receivable documents in the state wide accounting system.
- Support and fill in for other general accounting and finance roles as needed.
