Position Summary
The Field Energy Outreach Specialist will work for the Diverse Program Ally Incubator responsible for identifying, recruiting, and supporting diverse contractors to participate in energy efficiency offerings. The specialist will oversee and implement tasks and activities, alongside team members in delivering the Diverse Program Ally Incubator. The specialist must be able to identify and rectify potential problems and be responsible for mentoring, coaching, training, and developing contractors to be successful as an Energy Efficiency Program Ally.

- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the program's strategic direction regarding energy efficiency and business activities of its customers.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customer service and communication between the existing Ameren Program Ally Network, diverse contractors within the Ameren Illinois Service territory, and programmatic staff
- Serve as a liaison to the Diverse Program Ally Incubator program staff and Ameren Illinois Partners to escalate concerns as needed
- Navigate and manage Program Ally, utility customer, and utility client relations
- Present Program goals and opportunities, develop/facilitate/nurture business relationships, and explain technical/operational issues to Program Allies, customers, and the client
- Provide one-on-one in-field and on-site project support to program participants.
- Recruit, develop, support, and mentor program participants
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business/marketing or communications or 2 years of experience in basic wiring, lighting, HVAC, troubleshooting and other technologies installed in residential, commercial and industrial buildings and/or background in one or more of the following:
- Building Science and Design
- Building Envelope Professional (BPI)
- Weatherization or related fields
- Building maintenance
- Home inspection
- HVAC, lighting, controls, or renewable energy
- Technical aptitude required to diagnose and perform mechanical tasks related to energy efficiency
- Experience in installing technologies, manual labor and using tools -
- Experience working with small businesses/vendors as contractors.
- Must be able to handle a wide work variety that may not be explicitly stated above listed duties and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and excellent organizational skills.
- Analytical ability is required to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with strong data entry skills in entering information in tracking systems/databases.
- Must be able to handle a wide work variety and work in a fast-paced environment as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with customers, clients and team members and function well with a very diverse group of people.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and work under frequent time pressures.
- Utilize good judgement to plan and accomplish goals and troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Previous 3-5 years' customer service experience
- Possess a working knowledge and understanding of utility rebates and incentives and how they're applied to energy efficiency measures
- Must be able to calculate electric and gas net savings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with resource identification, project management, or business development support.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid driver's license

- Required to sit, stand, walk; talk and hear; and ability to touch and handle tools and/or controls
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Noise level is typically moderate.
Travel:
- Up to 60% travel across central and southern Illinois
