WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Finance Product Owner is responsible for coordinating and organizing the reporting, development, configuration, testing, launch, and post-implementation support of all those modules of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, which principally enable the grants, procurement, accounts payable, accounts receivable, leases, loans, and general ledger functionalities. This position will report to the Controller and sit within The Nature Conservancy's Finance Business Unit on the PART-C team (Private Awards Center of Excellence, Accounting, Related Entities, Treasury, and Financial Compliance). The PART-C team is a resource and partner that supports TNC's mission and values to ensure appropriate regulatory and procedural compliance globally. This is a remote role that will interact with teams located around the world.
The Finance Product Owner has overall responsibility for coordinating and organizing the activities and associated personnel for the successful implementation of a new ERP system by coordinating and organizing the development, configuration, testing, and launch of those modules of the ERP system, which principally enable the grants, procurement, accounts payable, accounts receivable, leases, loans, and general ledger functionalities.
They are a subject matter expert in accounting and various finance areas, including but not limited to US GAAP, grants, and procurement, and serve as a resource balancing the strategic goals of the project, the capabilities of the system for its delivery of required finance functionality and the needs of the end-users in all business units to determine the best approach and system configurations. In addition, post implementation of the ERP, the Finance Product Owner will identify the need for and coordinate with the accountable managers for those professional services and outsourcing relationships necessary for the efficient and effective functioning of all those modules of the ERP system, which principally enable the grants, procurement, accounts payable, accounts receivable, leases, loans, and general ledger functionalities, ensure a smooth transition from the prior system(s) and support the finance leadership team with any post-implementation clean up and reconfiguratio
n related to the ERP's financial functionality.
They are the primary liaison on matte s pertaining to the finance aspects of the ERP and coordinate with the ERP Program Manager and Project Managers in driving the execution of the system implementation for all those modules of the ERP system which principally enable the grants, procurement, accounts payable, accounts receivable, leases, loans, and general ledger functionalities. In addition, they work closely with organizations across the Conservancy to organize interdepartmental needs for the effective functioning of all those modules which principally enable the grants, procurement, accounts payable, accounts receivable, leases, loans, and general ledger functionalities in coordination with the ERP project managers.
Responsibilities & Scope
- Facilitate and coordinates with the ERP Project Managers and the ERP Program Manager the implementation of all financial modules and aspects of the ERP system for finance, including procurement and grants.
- Explain accounting and finance requirements to all stakeholders and how they will impact the design and implementation of the finance pieces of the ERP, including interfaces with the HR modules and current systems in place.
- Understanding of accounting and finance requirements and impact on systems.
- Take a collaborative, best-practice approach to problem-solving, design, and configuration.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining resource plans and testing strategies specific to the finance modules in conjunction with the ERP Project Managers and the ERP Program Manager.
- Coordinate with the Change Management function to ensure timely and effective delivery of change management-related communications and training.
- Ensure TNC policies, procedures, financial standards, and legal requirements are met and managed for ethical compliance.
- Presents and reports to the Controller and the ERP Program Manager on functional activities.
- Coordinate with directors/ sponsors on critical decisions, risks, and issues.
- Work closely with other leads and the ERP Program Manager to align on cross-functional decisions and impacts.
- Responsible for developing and proposing configuration, reporting, and integrations in coordination with the ERP Program Manager and ERP Project Managers.
- Eliminate "roadblocks," facilitates resolution, makes micro-decisions guiding BAs, SMEs, etc., for finance-related ERP issues in coordination with the ERP Program Manager and ERP Project Managers.
- Ensure correct resources are engaged for decision-making/ input for finance-related ERP issues.
- Own and communicate product vision for the Core Financial functions and define, recommend, prioritize, and implement solutions aligning with TNC's strategic goals for finance-related ERP issues in coordination with the ERP Program Manager and ERP Project Managers.
- Identify product and release requirements for finance-related ERP issues and communicate them to the ERP Program Manager and ERP Project Managers for resolution.
- Balance and communicate priorities between strategic new development against ongoing production support for finance-related ERP issues.
- Coordinate and lead testing efforts for finance-related ERP functionalities while contributing to the employee experience with end-user focus, collaboration, and transparency.
- Recognize available options and select the appropriate course of action for continuous improvement of solutions and delivery processes with the highest business value for finance-related ERP issues in coordination with the ERP Program Manager and ERP Project Managers
