The Manager, Fleet will oversee all aspects of fleet maintenance while establishing and maintaining a department culture focused on people, safety, service, and cost through meaningful engagements with fleet technicians, best in-class service to customers, and safe and reliable fleet operations. The Manager, Fleet will use their experience in fleet to manage personnel and drive efficient fleet operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee all aspects of the fleet maintenance function while establishing and maintaining a safe work environment and working conditions for employees. Ensure shop and vehicle safety practices are always followed.
• Lead to create a culture of safety that ensure that every US Foods associate, our customers, and the general public with whom our drivers and fleet technicians interact remain injury free, always.
• Interview, hire, and train all fleet technicians. Schedule all schooling and certification courses for technicians. Provide timely evaluations of all employee performance to support the progression of each associate. Fully understand and train associates on preferred work methods (PMWs).
• Ensure all vehicles are in proper working condition by performing and/or overseeing maintenance on all company owned equipment. Provide the proper documentation and applicable certifications and ensure conformance with vehicle manufacture’s service recommendations. Update all specifications when equipment changes are necessary in collaboration with RFM and Corporate Fleet team.
• Manage purchasing, warranties, capital improvement requests, and the parts department inventory levels for all fleet needs to ensure proper department functioning. Purchase fuel and shop equipment, file warranty claims and recover warranty dollars, and develop the yearly budget.
• Work with drivers to enable them to operate specialized equipment properly, and provide assistance as needed when troubles develop on the road. Find qualified service to repair downed vehicles and obtain competitive bids for repairs.
• Comply with OSHA, DOT, and Tax commission regulations.
• Produce weekly, period, and yearly reports along with daily OOS reports.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
SUPERVISION:
• Direct: Union and/or non-union technicians.
RELATIONSHIPS
• Internal: Transportation leaders and coworkers; Technicians, Warehouse leaders; Internal customers across departments (e.g., Sales)
• External: Customers
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• May spend a portion of time on the road in a truck exposed to noise and vibration levels which may be higher than those typically experienced in passenger cars. Will spend time in an office working on a computer. Time will also be spent inside and outside the distribution center in a variety of climates including normal warehouse conditions with temperatures that may reach -5 degrees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Related Experience/Requirements
• Minimum 5 years of fleet equipment experience.
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Good interpersonal skills to establish and maintain co-worker relationships.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
• Strong problem-solving and organization skills with a focus on meeting deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and strong leadership.
• Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
Travel
•10% travel required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training.
Education
• High school diploma or GED required.
Certifications/Training
• Demonstrated knowledge of DOT, Hazmat, and OSHA regulations.
• Thermo King and Major certification.
• Possession of valid state Driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Licenses
• State Inspections License preferred.
• Class A or B commercial driver license preferred.

The following information is provided in accordance with certain state and local laws. Compensation depends on experience, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation for this role is between $85,000 and $125,000. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus.
