About the Job
Basic Function: The food expeditor is the liaison to maintain the flow of orders from the kitchen to the servers and to the guests. Ensuring orders are completed quickly and correctly, assisting with the finishing touches on dishes, conducting quality control, and serving guests as needed. A successful expo should have strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills.

Direct the flow of communication in the kitchen by calling out orders, getting the status on dishes, notifying servers that dishes are ready, and taking dishes to guests as needed.
Informing wait staff when certain dishes or ingredients have run out and/or have changed.
Liaison between wait staff and kitchen staff. Keeping the kitchen staff informed of guest requests.
Monitoring food portions on completed dishes following all restaurant portion and quality standards.
Assist with Togo orders by preparing, packing, and delivering to designated pick up area to customers.
Ensuring all orders are completed in a timely manner and with the correct priority.
Inspect the cleanliness, presentation, and temperature of completed dishes.
Add the finishing touches to completed dishes, including but not limited to, adding garnishes and removing smudges.
Maintain designated areas clean, neat, and well stocked. These areas include but are not limited to the cooking, prep, and storage areas.
Adhere to all health and safety standards.
Cleans food preparation equipment and work areas according to health and safety guidelines; cleans counters or tables.
Adheres to all restaurant policies and procedures paying special attention to health and/ or safety requirements; communicates any concerns to management.
Assist all staff as needed. This includes but is not limited to serving dishes to guests, cleaning, stocking, and food prep.
Handle customer complaints on behalf of the kitchen staff and help identify solutions.
Communicates with servers in a professional manner regarding guest service.
