POSITION SUMMARY:
Greets cafeteria patrons following department scripting serving food to customers in an appealing and efficient manner. Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment following department standards and requirements. Accurately documents station temperatures, portions prepared and leftovers. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experience in support of department philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System Initiatives.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
•
Good oral communication and customer service skills.
•
Ability to effectively and respectfully interact with staff and the public within the organization.
•
Ability to effectively deal with disgruntled customers and resolve complaints.
•
Successful completion of annual job specific competencies and skill verification tools.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES:
•
Prepares and serves menu items to cafeteria customers in a timely and eye appealing manner utilizing correct potion sizes. Must be able to adapt pace of work during peak serving times to serve customers quickly and efficiently while using lower volume times to restock and clean.

Organizes station, setting up per established steam table/station diagram and ensuring station is open on time consistently. Ensures station is stocked appropriately with correct serving utensils, dishes and to go containers prior to the beginning of the meal period.

Consistently completes all position required documentation, including temperature logs, pre-service checklists, catering documentation and production/service records.
•
Utilizes sound judgment to resolve customer issues independently, offering substitutions and replacements. If unable to resolve issues to the customer’s satisfaction, refers patron to an appropriate member of department leadership team for follow up.

Consistently completes position specific daily/weekly/monthly cleaning checklists following all designated procedures. Empties garbage as assigned and disposes of broken glass appropriately. Stocks station as needed for next shift. Maintains a clean work station throughout shift. Consistently utilizes cut resistant gloves when using knives.

Consistently demonstrates an ability to look beyond the normal scope of duties to provide exceptional service to café patrons and a commitment to improve customer satisfaction scores in annual customer close up survey.

Performs all aspects of job in an environment that optimizes patient, customer and environmental safety and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and compliance efforts. Maintains confidentiality of position required information. Completes other duties as assigned.
