Position Overview
Forensic ClinicianWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Forensic Clinician to join our clients team. . This role involves providing forensically focused individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and clinical case management services to an adult forensic population. Timely documentation within 24 hours of service delivery is required. Clinical staff will participate in all meetings and supervision activities and assist with projects as needed, directed by the Program Director or Program Coordinator.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducting mental status examinations and utilizing current diagnostic manuals.
- Applying psychiatric mental health theories and practices.
- Providing individual and group treatment for clients with various psychopathologies.
- Functioning as both the primary therapist and a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
- Observing and documenting clients' behaviors and treatment sessions accurately.
- Assessing clients' statements and behaviors for evidence of antisocial behavior.
- Handling encounters with unstable, angry, hostile, agitated, or intoxicated clients effectively and safely.
- Conducting crisis interventions to assess and de-escalate aggressive/assaultive behavior.
- Understanding human relationships and working effectively with visitors, police, and community members.
- Communicating effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Communicating effectively in Spanish, both verbally and in writing (for designated bilingual Spanish positions).
- Exhibiting strong writing skills and utilizing feedback effectively.
- Proficiently using computer skills, including learning electronic records programs and other company software.
- Creating and typing court reports and other related documents using word processing software.
Experience and Qualifications
- Experience providing group and individual treatment.
- Proficiency in treatment and diagnostic skills using DSM IV/V.
- Experience with severe and persistent mental illness, substance abuse, and assessing dangerous/violent behaviors.
- Experience preparing written client evaluations.
- Experience working with mentally ill and/or forensic populations.
- Desired: Experience in mental health, correctional, or similar forensic agencies providing individual and group therapy.
Education
- Master's (MFT, LCSW, PCC, MSW) or Doctorate in Psychology (PhD, PsyD).
- Masters level Psychology graduates encouraged to appply.
- License-Eligible/Licensed Clinician with the California Board of Psychology/California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
- Desired Education: Forensic Emphasis from an accredited institution.
Requirements
- Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.
- Valid California Driver's License.
- TB clearance.
- Driving record acceptable for coverage by organization insurance carrier.
- Fire and Safety Training.
- First Aid Training Certification.
- CPR Certification.
- Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI).
Compensation
$28.85/hr - $30.31/hr (non-bilingual)
$29.85/hr - $31.31/hr (bilingual Spanish)
Additional DMH compensation, up to $1,250/month

Sun-Thurs: 8am-4:30pm
Tues-Sat: 9am-5:30pm
