About the Job
The Assistant Copywriter is responsible for creating persuasive, brand-appropriate descriptions for products (including, but not limited to: apparel, accessories, Movement and Beauty + Wellness) on Free People’s digital properties. In addition, this role is tasked with writing compelling and strategic SEO-driven copy and ad hoc creative copy projects. Qualified applicants should have an excellent command of the English language, a deep knowledge of fashion/beauty trends and terminology, and an inherent understanding of the Free People brand.
Role Responsibilities:- Write descriptive, concise, compelling, and error-free copy
- Own various product categories, developing a strong voice for and understanding of each unique class
- Attribute each style based on visual details, trends, fabric, etc.
- Develop at-a-glance product highlights to give customer additional insight into product features
- Provide precise measurements for garment sizing
- Fact-check product specifications to ensure 100% accuracy
- Coordinate efforts of multiple teams (buying, merchandising, photo studio, etc.) to ensure copy is provided in a timely manner and prioritized based on marketing efforts and go-live dates
- Collaborate with copy team to optimize PDPs and streamline product copy process
- Write daily subject lines and push notifications, analyzing for best practices
- Attend and contribute to regular copy team meetings to brainstorm content ideas supporting product initiatives and
- Excellent command of English language, grammar, and spelling
- Ability to write quickly to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to self-schedule and
- Strong communication skills to work across various teams
- Knowledge of fashion, designer trends and textiles
- Ability to accurately measure and describe merchandise

- Basic understanding of HTML, including ability to create links and format text
