Controller
We’re seeking an experienced hands-on SAGE savvy, Controller to join our leadership team and oversee all company financial functions. We are looking for an individual that is dynamic, highly motivated, a strong personality with excellent leadership, social and communication skills, to groom and grow our financial team to further advance and achieve company strategic goals.
Management
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department.
- Cash management, reporting, and forecasting.
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable, ensuring that customers’ receivables are collected promptly.
- Oversee Accounts payable, ensuring that vendors are paid in a timely manner and that all reasonable discounts are taken.
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
- Oversee Payroll; ensuring employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner.
- Oversee insurance, 401K, banking relationships.
Transactions
- Prepare all monthly account reconciliations.
- Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.
- Reconcile inventory.
- Ensure that required debt and other recurring payments are made on a timely basis.
- Maintain the chart of accounts.
- Responsible for preparation of journal entries and month-end close process.
- Maintain fixed assets.
Reporting
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.
- Issue timely and complete financial statements.
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
- Provide for a system of management cost reports.
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
- Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments.
Compliance
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to function in a leadership role

- Must have strong organization and communication skills
- Must be detail oriented and have excellent accounting skills
- Must be able to prioritize work to meet scheduled deadlines while handling multiple tasks
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality
- Knowledge of contract law/lien law
- Must have managerial skills and be able to function in a supervisory role
- Knowledge of computer based spreadsheets and reporting
- Near expert of Sage 100 (MAS 90) or other ERP system
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance is required (from an AACSB accredited Business School)
- CPA or MBA preferred (from an AACSB Accredited Business School)
- 6 – 7 year’s financial closing experience (month-end and year-end) required
- Minimum ten years of progressive accounting experience
- Minimum three years supervisory experience is required
