SALARY RANGE: $53,102 - $71,947 annually DOQ
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Park Operations Manager the position responsibility involves assisting with park operations, which include accounting, payroll, park revenues, and assisting in the preparation of the park budget.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Park Operations Manager the position responsibility involves assisting with park operations, which include accounting, payroll, park revenues, and assisting in the preparation of the park budget.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs clerical and administrative work in answering phones, receiving the public and providing general assistance in support of park operations.
- Composes, types, and edits a variety of correspondence, reports, memoranda and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy and completeness.
- Maintains inventories and orders supplies, materials and equipment in accordance with Metroparks purchasing policies.
- Communicates park policies, plans and procedures to employees and general public.
- Assists park management with enforcement of Metroparks policies/procedures and ensures any required paperwork is completed, accurate and timely.
- Acts as custodian of sensitive Metroparks documents and personnel records. Establishes and maintains filing systems.
- Serves as the liaison between park employees/management and Human Resources and/or Finance.
- Assists in the recruiting and hiring process for new seasonal and part-time personnel and coordinates the rehiring process.
- Conducts reference or background checks on job applicants and volunteers.
- Distributes, reviews and processes paperwork for new employees and returning seasonal employees, then enters, reviews and maintains employee data in the HR/Payroll ERP system.
- Prepares and maintains employment records related to employment events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using HR/Payroll ERP system.
- Compiles and prepares reports and documents pertaining to personnel activities.
- Reviews employee time sheets, wage records, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
- Prepares bi-weekly payroll for processing. Monitors and maintains records in the employee time and attendance system, including records of hours worked, computation of overtime, shift premium, account distribution, paid leave time used, etc.
- Coordinates workers compensation claims process for park personnel.
- Assists park manager with annual budget process, including monitoring operational expenditures in compliance with budget constraints.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and the general public; to respond to complaints, questions, and enforce rules.
- May assist with special events and activities.
- May serve on employee committees
- Associate Degree in related field, Bachelors preferred. Applicants with 4 or more years of related service will be given credit toward meeting the minimum educational requirements and will be considered for the position.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, budget controls, auditing, cash controls and professional standards and ethics.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, filing and record management systems.
- Ability to use mathematics to solve problems.
- Ability to communicate using telephone and radio equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with the public, outside agencies and employees.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions and varied hours including weekends and holidays, depending upon park demands.
- Ability to utilize computer system to include word processing, spreadsheet, publishing, and data base software applications.
- Ability to maintain and keep clerical and stock records.
- Possession of a valid Michigan operator's license and acceptable driving record.
- May be assigned to work in other parks and districts as needed and if necessary.
- May be required to adjust schedule to meet organizational needs, including special events, evenings, weekends & holidays.
- Ability to perform essential duties.
- Meets all of the minimum qualifications of the Park Support Specialist – Level 04.
- Five or more years of related experience.
