RESPONSIBILITIES
REQUIREMENTS
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Lead the functional safety engineering function for all electronics programs
- Interface with customer to collect and clarify functional safety requirements. Track requirements through design, coding, unit testing, integration testing, validation and release phases
- Interface with internal groups such as system, electrical, mechanical, validation, manufacturing, project leaders, program managers and external groups such as suppliers
- Be creative in developing optimized system and software architectures that meets the safety goals from the customer
- Review safety solutions from suppliers and apply them to architecture designs
- Provide effort estimates and support quotation activities
- Ensure functional safety elements are included in DFMEA and in manufacturing test specifications
- Act as mentor to other engineers
- Participate in improvement of personal, departmental and technological capabilities
- Support product builds, launches and investigation of functional safety issues
- Be motivated and have strong problem-solving skills
- Provides, exchanges, or present technical information from multiple data sources
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering. Master’s degree is a plus
- 8+ years of experience in automotive or equivalent embedded systems
- 5+ years of experience in automotive functional safety ISO 26262
- Experience in automotive serial communication protocols such as CAN and LIN
- Experience in different microcontrollers and peripherals such as SPI, GPIO, PWM, etc.
- Software Quality and Process Improvement standards such as CMMI or Automotive SPICE
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in C programming language for embedded systems
- Model-Based development tools and AUTOSAR design methodology
- Automotive Cybersecurity
- High speed data networks such as Ethernet
- Power Electronics including HV electronics
