We are looking to hire a full-time GME/Immigration Advisor within our Exchange Visitor (J-1 Visa) Sponsorship Program (EVSP) department at Intealth. As part of an enthusiastic and supportive team, the GME/Immigration Advisor supports foreign national physicians participating in U.S. graduate medical education (GME) and builds vital connections with training hospitals across the U.S., all while ensuring compliance with U.S. government regulations.

WORK SCHEDULE for the GME/Immigration Advisor
This full-time position typically works 7-hour workdays, Monday - Friday, with a hybrid schedule, working in the office two days a week for most of the year, with three days a week in the office required during the department's peak period (roughly April - July). Additional hours may also be required during the peak period.
SALARY for the GME/Immigration Advisor (Starting at $65,000 annually)
Any offered salary is determined based on competency and skills, prior relevant experience, required degrees/certifications, internal equity within the organization, and market competition.

Join us as a GME/Immigration Advisor, where you will work closely with physicians from around the world pursuing residency and fellowship training in the United States. Your role will immerse you in the world of graduate medical education and immigration, building crucial connections with training hospitals across the U.S. while ensuring U.S. government regulations are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluating applications for J-1 visa sponsorship, ensuring the sought-after medical training complies with U.S. government regulations.
- Supporting and advising sponsored physicians and their teaching hospitals on maintaining J-1 status in compliance with U.S. government regulations.
- Serving as the initial point of contact in addressing issues regarding the physician's immigration status and health, safety, and welfare.
- Conducting proactive outreach to teaching hospital staff to ensure their understanding and compliance with J-1 visa regulations.
- Serving as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) in SEVIS, a web-based system for maintaining information on nonimmigrant students and exchange visitors in the United States administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
- Staying informed of national GME requirements and related immigration policies and serving as a resource on these topics to both internal and external parties.
As the sole sponsor of physicians on a J-1 visa, EVSP and Intealth also work closely with the U.S. Department of State in the administration of the program. These 15,000+ physicians, from more than 150 countries around the world, serve an important role in the U.S. healthcare system, providing supervised patient care at more than 750 hospitals across the United States and helping to address critical areas of need.
We're looking for dynamic individuals with excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills to be a part of our supportive and enthusiastic team of advisors. You should be adept at multitasking in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail, and addressing complex issues with discernment and cultural sensitivity. Bachelors degree is required; previous experience in immigration and/or graduate medical education is strongly preferred.
