Job Summary:
The Gas Building Manager in the Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) industry is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and safety of facilities involved in the production, processing, and distribution of renewable natural gas. This role ensures that all systems operate efficiently, meet regulatory requirements, and contribute to the organization's sustainability goals. The Gas Building Manager will manage a team of technicians and collaborate closely with engineers, environmental specialists, and other stakeholders to optimize operations and achieve performance targets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of RNG facilities, ensuring all processes run smoothly and efficiently.
- Monitor and control gas processing systems, including biogas upgrading, gas compression, and distribution.
- Ensure the optimal performance of all equipment, including regular inspection and preventive maintenance.
- Manage energy usage and optimize the facility's energy efficiency to minimize operational costs.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, conducting regular safety drills and audits.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Develop and update emergency response plans and ensure all staff are trained in emergency procedures.
Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of technicians and operational staff, providing guidance and support.
- Schedule and coordinate staff activities, including shifts, training, and performance reviews.
- Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement among team members.
Budgeting and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage the facility's operational budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Monitor expenditures, track costs, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to source necessary materials, tools, and equipment.
Technical Support:
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, working with engineers and technical experts as needed.
- Participate in the commissioning of new equipment and systems, providing operational insights.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to implement process improvements and new technologies.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of all operational activities, maintenance schedules, and safety incidents.
- Prepare regular reports on facility performance, including production metrics, safety statistics, and compliance status.
- Present data and insights to senior management, recommending actions for improvement.
Education/Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, environmental science, or a related field. Relevant certifications in gas operations or facility management are a plus.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in facility management or operations within the natural gas or renewable energy sector.
- Proven experience managing teams and coordinating complex operations.
- Experience with RNG or biogas facilities is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of gas processing systems, facility management, and safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Proficient in the use of facility management software and other relevant technology.
Certifications:
- Relevant certifications in gas operations, facility management, or safety (e.g., OSHA certification) are preferred.

The duties of this job will require work outdoors in the weather year-round and inside industrial spaces with operating machinery. Exposure to high heat and high humidity as well as cold weather and high winds can be expected. This job also includes potential exposure to high noise, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, hot surfaces/equipment, cold surfaces/equipment, high vibrations, confined spaces, elevated working surfaces, and animal manure.
Compensation
Salary is paid on a bi-weekly basis and will be consummate with the value and experience the candidate brings to the role. In addition to base salary, compensation includes the option to participate in company sponsored medical, dental, vision insurance plans and in a retirement savings program, paid personal time off and holidays. You will also be eligible for an annual bonus and participation in the employee Long-Term Incentive plan.
