General Ledger Accountant - Hueman PE Talent Solutions

Michelli Weighing & Measurement is hiring a General Ledger Accountant as a Full-Time job in Harahan, LA 70123. 
 
As a General Ledger Accountant, you will help coordinate and perform general ledger accounting duties within the organization while also being an active participant in, and driver of, the organization’s overall strategy. This role requires knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) regulations and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:  

• WORK SAFELY – Accidents are preventable.
• Record and reconcile financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries.
• Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
• Assist in all month-end closing processes within the company’s closing deadlines.
• Generate and analyze financial records and data for the organization.
• Collaborate with the other financial roles within the organization & other departments as necessary.
• Support and ensure compliance with all state and local tax requirements.
• Create and monitor a system of controls & procedures for the recordation of fixed assets.
• Ability to identify and streamline process improvements and apply automation where possible.
• Coordinates with the controller the weekly cash flow updates.
• Develop processes to maximize full efficiency of the accounting system.
• Assist with ERP Financial conversion to consolidate financial reporting into one system.
• Assist in the company conversion to new credit card expense reporting software and subsequently help maintain and report on this system.
• Support and Prepare documentation for External Auditors.
• Assist with the budgeting and forecasting processes and perform analysis against actual performance.
• Assist in coordinating and implementing accounting procedures for any new company acquisitions.
• Support as a backup for other corporate functions as needed.
• Prepare AD-Hoc reporting as required.
• Other Duties to be assigned as necessary.

Job Qualifications:  

• 3-5 Years of experience as a General Ledger Accountant, required.
• 4 Year degree in accounting, required.
• Experience with QuickBooks, JP Morgan Chase, Expensify, and NetSuite.
• Ability to work in Microsoft Office and Google Spreadsheets.
• Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience identifying & implementing process improvements & lead change management efforts.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Display strong work ethic and teamwork.
• Ability to work over 40 hours when needed and travel occasionally.
• Strong analytical/quantitative and communication skills.
