Overview
We are seeking a skilled General Ledger Accountant to join a growing Mid-Atlantic construction/remodeling business. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial services and possess excellent financial acumen to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and intercompany accounts.
- Assist in preparing financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Analyze variances in financial data, identify discrepancies, and propose corrective actions.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper coding of expenses and accurate financial reporting.
- Monitor and enforce internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in general ledger accounting or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
- Experience with audit support and working in a fast-paced environment is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
