We are currently searching for talented General Machinist Level III for third shift 11 PM - 7:30 AM, Monday to Friday.
The General Machinist III works under the general direction of the Supervisor, Operations and daily direction of a Cell Leader with limited supervision. Sets up and operates conventional, special-purpose and numerical control machines and machining centers such as mills, lathes, chuckers and honing machines to make metal parts to exacting tolerances and dimensions
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- May perform intricate and complicated hand grinding operations such as, trimming parts, polishing surfaces, scratches, pits, and blending metal parts to exact tolerances and dimensions.
- Perform series of machining operations, such as: turning, boring, threading and facing on sheet metal pieces on castings, forgings, bar and plate stock.
- Interprets complicated blueprints, sketches, specifications, geometrical dimensions and tolerances. Solves problems relative to work-holding arrangement, unusual materials, machine setting, tools, product specifications and fabrication methods for production process. Determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup. Selects, mounts, and aligns various specialized machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling.
- Plans sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup. Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
- Uses a variety of machinist’s hand tools and precision measuring instruments. Perform first piece OAP inspection and verifies quality in accordance with SOP.
- Follows all safety regulations and exercises care in handling parts and operating machinery.
- Participates in cell or fabrication projects and assist with process improvements, methods, solutions and procedures to enhance program quality, cost and scheduling.
- Must be knowledgeable of elementary geometry, algebra and trigonometric principles.
- Ability to interpret complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables.
- Proficient with the use of various types of precision measuring instruments.
- Capable of making minor modifications to NC/CNC equipment programs.
- Able to use a personal computer to input data.
- Must have advanced skills knowledge in order to interpret data and measuring devices.
- High School diploma or GED as well as additional instruction equivalent to 3 years of applied training in a particular or specialized occupation required.
- Minimum of 5 years experience required.
