Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) General Maintenance Carpenter Full-time (37.5 hours weekly), non-exempt, union Hourly rate: $37.63 $38.54 Onsite; not eligible for relocation The Job Perform carpentry, cabinetry, and general building maintenance duties; perform locksmith duties. Provide work direction to general maintenance staff. In this role, you will Respond to Facilities work requests and e-mail requests from staff. Build, finish, and install carpentry construction, including cabinetry, wall, office construction, office furniture, plaster finishing and laminate work. Work in conjunction with the Head of the Facilities to plan and carry out projects. Perform locksmith duties, repairing, installing and tracking the inventory of locksets. Perform carpentry work on flooring, concrete and cement. Perform metal work including welding, cutting and grinding. Develop construction layouts, estimate project cost and order supplies and materials. Provide project direction to general maintenance staff; assist other staff in projects they may lead. Perform painting and finish work. Complete purchase orders for approval, assist with selecting vendors and obtaining competitive quotes. Perform office moves and event room set up and take down. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned. Requirements: High school graduate with 4 years of vocational trade school or equivalent experience Six years related experience Journeyman carpentry experience with cabinet construction Ability to read construction blueprints Ability to use all equipment listed below Ability to perform heavy lifting (at least 50 pounds) Equipment Operated: All shop wood working equipment, metal tools, welding equipment, masonry tools, paint spray equipment and scissors lift; locksmith tools and equipment; hand tools.
