This General service ENTERY POSITON into the auto repair field personnel job description this is a brief summary of your job description here with in the service team otherwise known as a hat here at Shifflet auto care. Job Title: General Service personnel (entry position)
Job Purpose: Service the shop and shop go for when needed all aspects of service.
Direct supervisor: service write, manger, owner, technician.

- Serves as ready to go when needed a good general attitude all around positive person will be from time to time communicating with customers and has to have a clean driving record and transportation at all times.
- When required to shuttle service for customers to and from home and work or other destinations close to the shop when needed.
- Keeps all grounds and shop clean of debris and dirt and paroles on a regular daily bases in and out of the shop in and out of fenced area making sure all trash cans inside and outside up front in the office and bathrooms are empty if over half full empty anyway.
- Checks with technicians daily to weekly about scrap parts and metals under benches cleans them out and put them in shop lot vehicle to be taken to scrap recycle area monthly which you will be doing when the truck is full or monthly upon managers approval .
- Make sure all old tires are moved outside to scrap pile for tires and noted when we have more than 10 tires that need to removed to Tire Company if there are some good ones let management know that they may be worth keeping for a customer or employee vehicle /resale etc.
- Keeping front waiting room cleaned and swept carpet and mats and chairs on a weekly base if needs extra cleaning do it also dusting front waiting room on a weekly base all display shelves, tables etc., take apart clean and reposition to look neat and organized.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions for proper operation and cleaning and service of equipment sweeper ,lawn mower, mop, and bucket, etc., maintaining supplies; i.e. soap glass cleaner mean green cleaners air fresheners , etc., performing preventive maintenance; advising service advisor or manger of problems and what might need to be done to repair problem or equipment.
- Completing forms ,stock check, fluids, washer fluid, engine oil, transmission fluid, antifreeze, oil filter cabinet, battery Debbie usage how low stocking levels are what needs to be added and ordered list to be put together and turned in to service advisor to be given to manager for order completion upon approval of manager/owner .
- Sweep and mop both break room and bathrooms weekly men’s and women’s check toilet paper dispensers and fill, paper towels,(change roll towels in men’s room), hand soaps, amounts in stock for use and cleaning. Also clean mirrors and sinks make sure uniforms are all put in bag in corner stand in men’s room.
- Keep eye on level of pop, water and candy bars in front refrigerator this is shop stock coffee ,coffee creamer, sugar ,paper plates ,napkins ,salt pepper ,etc.: and should be done at the same time as cleaning supplies trash bags floor mats and parts bags seat covers all checked and listed out at same time weekly to monthly let service advisor know that levels are low and in need of ordering with list so can be approved by manger /owner and ordered.
- Check night drop box to make sure has plenty of envelopes and pens in it for customers to write with and on at least once a week.
- Going thru the shop and finding were all battery jump packs are and making sure they are centrally located and plugged in so are charged and ready.
- Go thru shop at entry ways and all doorways wipe off all hand prints off doors, windows make sure all cob (spider) webs and bodies are cleaned out of window sills and doorways under chairs in corners etc. all around shop.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities working toward advancing yourself towards an auto technician; reading professional publications on your time or when everything is caught up and have checked in with supervisor manger.
- Every Monday morning you must attend the production goal setting meeting it is usually about 5-10 min long, unless more extensive information is covered, or you are excused from the meeting not pertaining to you.
- Checking and emptying oil drain tanks when not in use so that a technician will not have to empty them when they are needed.
- Checking weekly the scrub wash tank making sure water and soap are full and not to dirty to do any good and once every 3 months pull tank out drain and change water and soap mixture so as to make work properly check with lead technician or manger/owner for proper soap and drain place for machine process.
- Clean up around brake lathe tire machine wheel balancer and oil receiver sweep metal shavings up off floor put in bucket and put wheel weights that are on floor in bucket wipe down all outside of machines.
- Check oil levels in air compressors and bleed off tanks of water at bottom of tanks weekly.
- Check level in oil recovery system tanks to see in system is full.
- Make sure of level of recycled antifreeze tanks both old coolant and recycled and advise of where they are at on a weekly bases. Report to manager in writing
- Accomplishes operations and organization mission by completing related results as needed in a timely and neat manner.
- Being on time to work and working when here being regulated and not regulated a little bit of a self-starter open to learning.
- When needed helping technicians with pushing vehicles in and out of the building and working on vehicles when directed to with direct supervision of the technician asking for help.
- Walk the fence daily check for breaks or cuts thru the fence check for trash and trees growing thru the fence pick it up and cut the tree limbs out of the fence when cutting the grass and trimming the grass areas always wear safety glasses when using power equipment.
- All duty’s may change or be added to or taken away at management discretion in advance or history with verbal communication.
