This Opportunity
WSP is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Charlotte, NC. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of civil / geotechnical engineering projects with a focus on construction quality assurance (CQA), foundation engineering, site characterization, slope stability, natural hazards assessment and geotechnical engineering for energy and transportation projects.
Your Impact
- Will assist in writing record of construction reports (as-built reports) for landfills and pond closures
- Geotechnical investigation, design and construction quality assurance of utility projects such as tailings storage facilities, heap leach pads, foundations and other infrastructure
- Design calculations such as slope stability evaluation and settlement - Assist preparing technical reports
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in Civil Engineering, (Geotechnical empahsis and MS degree a plus)
- 5 years + professional experience
- Construction materials testing experience
- Good writing and communication skills
- Ability and willingness to travel
- Must pass background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience preparing record of construction reports for heap leach facilities and tailings storage facilities
- Civil 3D experience
- CQA field experience for earthworks and geomembrane installation
- GCI-ICP certified inspector
- Professional Engineer, (PE) license
- Bilingual in Spanish
Physical Demands
- Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work
- Ability to stoop, kneel and to routinely lift and carry 50 pounds
- Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles
- Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold
