WSP is currently initiating a search for a Geotechnical Engineering Vice President.This position can sit out of our Washington D.C.; Herndon, VA; or Baltimore, MD office
This OpportunityBe involved in projects with our Geotechnical & Tunneling Team, take on a leadership role, and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.Your ImpactManage a team of geotechnical and tunneling engineers in the DC metro area including tracking active projects and budgets, delegating tasks, coordinating across disciplines within project teams, coordinating with subconsultants, reviewing work, and providing professional guidance.Contribute to proposal and cost estimate development and track business development opportunities, both internally and externally.Perform professional geotechnical engineering work including design for tunneling projects, subsurface investigations, soil foundation engineering, settlement analysis, soil erosion, lateral earth pressures, geological hazards, underground water, slope stability, and operations to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, construction, or operating permits for commercial, industrial, building, environmental, infrastructure, and transportation projects.Provide guidance with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, soil/water/sludge/rock samples, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, hydrologic analysis, geotechnical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction
Apply high-level geotechnical engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various infrastructure project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction safety and phasing plans, and updating infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, drillers, and clients in a confident and professional manner.Who You AreRequired QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Engineering focus12+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering and geotechnical design.Virginia, Washington D.C., or Maryland PE registration, or the ability to obtain within 6 months.Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP"s Code of Conduct and related policies and proceduresEffective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering.WSP Benefits: WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career
