This position is located in Gilchrist, Oregon. Gilchrist is located in northern Klamath County, along U.S. Highway 97 about fifty miles south of Bend, Oregon and fifteen miles south of La Pine, Oregon. Gilchrist is nestled in the beautiful Deschutes National Forest which offers an abundance of outdoor recreation, in a family friendly community, with easy access to amenities.
Employee performs routine cleaning of school facilities including floors, walls, doors, restrooms, walkways, entrances and furniture; monitors the building for damage, participates and/or recommends preventive maintenance measures to supervisor. Employee should have knowledge of methods, materials, and practices used in building cleaning and sanitization work, and the proper use and care of mops, brooms, scrubbing brushes, waxing machines, and related equipment and a working knowledge of the safe efficient procedures for operating required tools of the job. Physical ability to adhere to OSHA and district safety regulations. Work within the district’s communicable disease control plan (blood borne pathogens) and be aware of the existence and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals as identified on the MSDS sheets. Responsibilities include student safety and security. This position is considered a safety sensitive position.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Not Necessarily Limited To)
1. Follows the individual cleaning schedule as outlined by the head custodian, maintenance supervisor, and/or the building principal within the appropriated amount of time.
2. Conduct routine tours of the physical plant, school, grounds and facilities as assigned.
3. Observe cleaning and maintenance needs and/or requirements for the areas assigned and report the needs to the head custodian or supervisor.
4. Perform yard keeping chores such as grass cutting, tree trimming of trees and shrubs no higher than 10 feet, etc. as assigned and maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
5. General maintenance of school grounds. Use of equipment in the building as needed (mowers, burnishers.)
6. Responsible for the opening and/or closing of the building as assigned for each school day and before leaving need to check to be sure all doors, windows and gates are secured as assigned. Assumes general security of the building.
7. Participates in general cleaning and maintenance of school facility interior and exterior.
8. Work cooperatively under the immediate supervision of the custodial supervisor and/or building principal.
9. Additional duties as assigned by principal or administrator.
