POSITION SUMMARY
The Good Shepherd Building Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of the YMCA building and grounds during assigned hours with an emphasis on housekeeping, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all. Must be able to uphold all YMCA safety and member service standards while focusing on positive relationships with all members, staff, volunteers and guests at the YMCA facility. The Good Shepherd Building Supervisor is an ambassador for the YMCA and should ensure delivery of high standards of customer service and cleanliness.

- You'll support the commitment of the YMCA to child abuse prevention by:
- Report any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor.
- Follow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children.
- Report any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor.
- Complete all child abuse prevention training as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Teaches and demonstrates the Y’s values of honesty, respect, responsibility, caring and faith.
- Implements all YMCA member and staff polices consistently. Communicates and documents incidents as needed according to YMCA guidelines and procedures.
- Connects and engages people to enhance lives and build community collaboration.
- Reaches out to all people to help them grow healthier in spirit, mind and body.
- Fosters social interaction and caring.
- Brings diverse individuals, groups, organizations and communities together for sharing and mutual support.
- Regularly walks all areas of the facility and the outside grounds. Monitor activities. Respond to member needs and assist as needed.
- Encourage a culture that builds relationships with members of all ages, offers a welcoming environment and makes the YMCA experience safe and fun for all.
- Maintains approachability and visibility to YMCA members and staff. Identify and take ownership of solving problems in a professional manner. Always convey a positive attitude when interacting with members, guests and staff.
- Maintains availability to support the Relationship Managers to ensure members are able to access the facility and their needs are met.
- Serves as the primary responder to all security and disciplinary incidents, fire alarms and medical emergencies. In an emergency, summon any needed professional assistance (police, fire, EMS, etc.) and follow their directions.
- Ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, vacuuming, seasonal activities such as snow removal, and general cleaning.
- Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.
- Replaces soap, paper towels and other supplies.
- Sets up furniture for events.
- Assists in identifying needed improvements in the areas of risk management, safety, grounds care, and overall member service.
- Attends all required training events, staff meetings, and supervisory conferences.
- Works collaboratively with coworkers and association leadership.
- Ensures a strong focus on character development and diversity, equity and inclusion throughout programming.
- Reports damaged equipment or safety hazards promptly.
- Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Rock River Valley.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Six months to one-year related experience and/or training desired.
- Minimum age of 21 years old.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are a must; proven ability to work with children and adults of all ages.
- Previous customer service, sales or related experience strongly preferred.
- High degree of self-confidence, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Basic knowledge of computers.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
- Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
- Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
- Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
- CPR, AED and First Aid certifications required within 90 days.
- Praesidium Academy trainings.
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
- Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.

$15.75 per hour
