About the Job
The Plan Check Engineer selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in public works technical plan review that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for an Engineer that has 15+ years of experience in grading plan checking to work on-site and full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) in the Santa Ana area.
As a Grading Plan Check Engineer, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Review engineering and construction plans for private land development and public works projects, ensuring compliance with applicable city, state, and federal codes, standards, and regulations.
- Perform detailed plan checks for grading, water quality management plan, street improvements, utility layouts, stormwater drainage systems, and other infrastructure to ensure design integrity and adherence to engineering standards.
- Analyze development project plans for consistency with the Subdivision Map Act, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and municipal codes.
- Provide technical guidance and feedback to architects, developers, and contractors, recommending changes where necessary to meet compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of plan reviews, approvals, and modifications, ensuring documentation complies with policies and legal requirements.

As a Grading Plan Check Engineer, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in civil engineering, with a focus on plan checking, development review, or related discipline.
- Strong experience with grading plan check and Water Quality Management Plan (WQMP) plan check
- Thorough knowledge of engineering principles, including grading, drainage, traffic, and utility design, and familiarity with local and state regulations.
- Proficiency with online plan check software, experience with Project Docs is a plus
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
- Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
