Graduate Assistant VR Prototyper/Engineer

PrismaP is a multi-disciplinary center focused on developing and providing sustainable support and leadership for transformative medical AI research, education, and clinical applications to advance patients' health in critical and acute care medicine. PrismaP addresses an unprecedented opportunity for world-leading ambient, immersive, and artificial intelligence (AI2) research and innovation to transform the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment for critically and acutely ill patients using the multimodal clinical and research data and resources from UF Health (UFH), one of Florida’s largest health care systems.

We are looking for motivated and qualified graduate students with experience in virtual/mixed reality technologies, game development (Unreal, Omniverse), software engineering (Python/C#) and system management (Docker/Kubernetes/AWS). The project involves building the University of Florida Hospital Digital Twin using NVIDIA Omniverse software, the Unreal game engine, and the Meta Quest Pro VR headset. The student will assist in implementing interactions in VR using the Meta Quest Pro hand-held controllers and work on networking pipelines for the project.

This is an hourly position. A minimum one-year commitment is required.

Responsibilities:
• Build VR based interactions mainly using Meta Quest Pro HMD,controllers and free hand.
• Develop voice assisted interaction techniques in VR.
• Assist in developing and deploying data ETL pipelines for the Digital Twin project.
• Other duties as assigned.

$18/hour

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• Experience in developing mixed reality applications on HMD platforms such as Meta Quest Pro.
• Experience in using game engines such as Unity and Unreal.
• Familiarity with OpenUSD assets and basic knowledge of NVIDIA Omniverse.
• Experience in software development mainly Python and C#.
• Basic knowledge of AI/ML techniques.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Willingness to learn new skills as projects require

• Hand on experience with Blender, Maya or any similar tools.
• Familiarity with system management tools such as Docker and Kubernetes etc.
• Hand on coding experience with real-time data streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ etc.
• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
