General Information & Responsibilities
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides district wide responsibilities for the management of the college’s comprehensive grant program, which includes performing grant research, needs analysis, pre-award project management and post-award compliance guidance, monitoring, reporting and evaluation. The position is responsible for working closely with the Executive Director of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness to ensure the college is securing external resources to support the mission and priorities of the college. As a member of the PIE Team, this position will also assist with college planning functions.
Description of Duties
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
a) Actively engages in funder/prospect research by identifying potential funding sources; local (municipal), state (Illinois), and federal grant opportunities that aid Black Hawk College in fulfilling its mission, goals, and strategic initiatives.
b) Maintains regular contact with eternal network and funding agencies at the Federal, State and local levels and markets the funding needs of the College to potential partners and funders.
c) Develops and maintains relationships with key funding partners, including municipal, state, and federal agencies, as well as private foundations and corporations.
d) Convene and regularly hold planning meetings with key college personnel to identify and develop competitive grant proposals tailored to each funding opportunity.
e) Develops, designs, writes, and edits concept papers, letters of interest/inquiry, and grant applications; develops and finalizes competitive grant proposals including abstracts, project narratives, goals and objectives, evaluation strategies, budget and budget justifications, financial documentation, and other supporting documentation in a timely manner.
f) Manages proposal development timelines, ensuring appropriate reviews and approvals of proposal materials are secured and that submissions occur by the application deadlines.
g) Creates and maintains organizational information boilerplate language; recommends potential funders and solicitation strategies to Executive Director of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness.
h) Analyze and monitor grant awards, ensuring project alignment with funding requirements and identifying any necessary modifications or amendments.
i) Maintains a database containing information on grant and other funding opportunities available, applied for, and inventory of grants awarded to the College including funding agency, contact information, reporting requirements and timelines, and other relevant information.
j) Monitor and stay current on trends and best practices in grant writing, sharing relevant information with the College community.
k) Provide training and support to faculty and staff in grant writing and proposal development.
l) Collaborate with the Project or Grant Manager to ensure smooth post-award grant management and reporting.
m) Monitor and evaluate post-award grant performance, both programmatic and fiscal, for all grants.
n) Develop and maintain the written documentation of policies and procedures, as required by the college, and funders.
o) Manages post-award activities including initiating new grant orientation sessions, periodic grant audits, collaborating with Grant Managers in monitoring grant budgets; working submit external funder reports.
p) Disseminates information on College grant activities, projects and grant achievements.
Evaluates processes and outcomes of grant-funded projects ensuring funders projects are meeting stated outcomes.

Education & Experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.)
a) Bachelor's degree required,
b) Minimum of 2 years of experience in grant writing, with a successful history of securing grants, preferably in higher education and/or workforce development..
c) Demonstrated knowledge of grant research techniques and resources.
d) Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse funding audiences.
e) Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
f) Advanced computer skills navigating Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel).
