The Graphic Designer creates visual content in support of digital storytelling. The Graphic Designer also assists in developing and evaluating graphic and multimedia strategies and provides counsel on the best practices. This is a 100% time, 12-month position. While physical presence on campus is a critical component, some remote work may be considered. This position works under moderate supervision and reports to the creative director. The Graphic Designer must be able to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, prioritize and meet deadlines, work well in a team environment, build positive relationships, and collaborate with individuals across campus. Job Duties: Graphic Design and Brand Advocacy 70% Designs and creates visual content using a combination of forms such as text, audio, images, photography, animations, video and interactive content to communicate themes and messages for communication materials. Provides designs that adhere to accessibility and brand standards. May use graphic software, web-based graphics or other design tools to create accurate finished products. Helps maintain brand identity, design standards, and policies. Creates and adheres to visual identity standards. Promotes design best practices. Helps monitor and grow the digital asset management tool for the university. Trademark Licensing 15% Assists in the maintenance of the university's brand assets. Reviews designs for compliance to brand guidelines. Identifies opportunities to enhance the trademark licensing portfolio. Consultation 5% Consults on graphic and multimedia strategies for University units and colleges. Finds opportunities to expand creative execution into essential communication tactics. Coordinates the creation and implementation of design assets for efficiency, flexibility, and usability. Professional Development 5% Completes professional development, education, and training activities, consistent with leading the responsibilities of the position. Completes continued learning and development appropriate to work duties for the pursuit of individual, unit, and institutional success. Stay current on content development trends. Other duties as assigned 5% Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Requires BA/BS degree with two or more years of related experience or a combination of related education and work experience equal to six or more years Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Experience creating finished graphics for print and web. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Understanding of print production and prepress and designing for web Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with content creation. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: The salary range for this position will start at $49,982.40 and depend on qualifications.
