Job Summary:
Oversees and is accountable for the store operations ensuring maximum sales and profitability through effective customer service, merchandising, inventory management, expense control, personnel management/training, managing operating costs and minimizing shrinkage.

Supervisory responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, selecting staff and making hiring recommendations; planning, scheduling and assigning work; checking and approving work; recommending salary adjustments; making effective recommendations regarding promotions, making effective recommendations regarding unsatisfactory employees; making final decision to terminate unsatisfactory employees.
Education and Experience:
The store manager is exposed to inside and outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold, dust and/or dirt, oils, chemicals, fumes, odors, and unpleasant tasks such as handling garbage.

- Performs duties in a safe and efficient manner consistent with store safety policies and procedures.
- Creates “action plans” for opportunities in store.
- Ensures that store maintains outstanding customer care standards by providing a friendly environment that treats each customer as a guest with respect and courtesy while providing them with quick and friendly service. Responds to customer’s questions, resolves problems and needs in a friendly, accurate and timely manner.
- Monitors store quality, cleanliness, stock levels, merchandising, sales growth, and profitability by analyzing operating reports, payroll sales reports, shrink reports, and taking appropriate action to improve performance.
- Creates and monitors effective work schedules for all store personnel to ensure consistent application of courtesy and service to customers while minimizing personnel costs.
- Implements plan to maximize sales to meet or exceed budgets.
- Regulates shrinkage, expenses, payroll, and report variances as requested.
- Ensures compliance with all store policies and procedures and supports store loss prevention efforts through meetings, audits and corrective action plans as required.
- Implements a regular and effective housekeeping program throughout the store.
- Continually evaluates and reacts to performance issues and actively recruits as necessary.
- Ensures that accurate records are maintained in tracking margins, markdowns, in-store use of merchandise, voids, and refunds on outdated, damaged or spoiled merchandise write-offs.
- Ensures that product rotation procedures are rigidly observed and that merchandise is of optimum freshness and quality.
- Maintains stock levels, inventory, and stock rotation to required level. Plan department layout or merchandise and/or advertising display. Inspects merchandise to ensure it is correctly priced and displayed.
- Supports store loss prevention efforts through meetings, audits, and/or corrective action programs.
- Maintains effective security standards and procedures for all area within the store.
- Maintains high standards of employee morale and promotes an atmosphere of cooperation.
- Participates in on-going training activities to increase personal skill level, improving overall store operations and customer service.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required
- At least 5 years retail experience in a supermarket industry preferred
- Basic personal computer skills that include the ability to send/receive email messages, post information to a database or spreadsheet, and perform basic word processing, bookkeeping, and/or data entry.
- Equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Must possess excellent customer service skills
- Strong leadership skills

- In-depth knowledge of all aspects of store management and operations

- Possess good organizational skills and detail orientation

- Customer service experience.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of all aspects of store management and operations
- Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems
- Ability to work evening and/or weekend hours.
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently and meet store goals and objectives.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, sit, walk, push, pull, lift, use fingers, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Close mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with preparing and analyzing data and figures, performing accounting work, using a computer terminal, and/or extensive reading.
