Job Description:
The Group Purchasing Manager for Exteriors/Plastics is responsible for leading and managing the purchasing strategy and operations for exterior and plastic components in vehicle development. This role will focus on supplier selection, contract negotiations, cost management, and supply chain optimization to ensure the highest quality and cost efficiency for exterior plastic parts. The manager will work closely with engineering, product development, and manufacturing teams to align purchasing efforts with overall company goals.Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement purchasing strategies for exterior and plastic components, ensuring alignment with company objectives for cost, quality, and timing.

Lead a team of purchasing professionals in supplier selection, contract negotiations, and performance management for exterior and plastic materials, parts, and assemblies.

Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality materials and components.

Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts with suppliers to achieve optimal cost savings while maintaining required performance and quality standards.

Collaborate with Engineering, Product Development, and Manufacturing teams to ensure supplier capabilities meet design and production requirements.

Lead sourcing activities, including Request for Quotations (RFQs), supplier audits, and evaluations to identify the best supplier partners.

Monitor market trends, raw material costs, and supply chain risks to make informed purchasing decisions.

Drive continuous improvement in purchasing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate supply chain risks.

Develop and manage purchasing budgets, ensuring alignment with departmental and company-wide financial targets.

Ensure adherence to quality and regulatory standards in the selection and procurement of exterior and plastic materials.

Resolve any issues related to supplier performance, delivery delays, or quality concerns in a timely and effective manner.

Represent the purchasing department in cross-functional meetings and provide regular updates to senior management on purchasing strategies, performance, and challenges.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and industry regulations in all purchasing activities.

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus).

8+ years of experience in purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain management, with a focus on automotive exterior and plastic components.

Proven leadership experience, managing purchasing teams or leading cross-functional procurement projects.

Strong negotiation skills with a track record of delivering cost savings while maintaining supplier relationships and product quality.

In-depth understanding of plastic materials, manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding), and tooling for automotive applications.

Knowledge of supply chain risk management, cost breakdown analysis, and supplier performance metrics.

Familiarity with purchasing systems and tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement best practices.

Excellent problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset and hands-on approach.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and influence decision-making.

Experience in global sourcing and managing suppliers in diverse geographic locations.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
