About the Job
We're seeking an experienced HCM Functional Workstream Lead with a background in Workday and Higher Education. In this role, you will lead the HCM functional team in implementing Workday Core HCM, Core Compensation, and Advanced Compensation modules for a major R1 Higher Education institution. This position involves direct collaboration with client stakeholders and requires expertise in Workday solutions, specifically within the Higher Education sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Workday design sessions focusing on Core HCM, Core Compensation, and Advanced Compensation, providing strategic guidance and best practice recommendations.
- Configure Workday modules or guide other consultants to meet specific client requirements.
- Ensure cohesive design and configuration across Workday HCM modules, aligning with other functional areas, including Financials (FIN).
- Oversee testing phases, resolve configuration issues, and support the client through cutover, go-live, and initial hyper-care.
- Collaborate with the PMO and change management teams to ensure alignment, visibility, and risk management across the HCM workstream.
Must-Have Skills and Experience:
- Workday Core HCM Expertise: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Higher Education Core HCM implementations.
- Workday Core Compensation: At least 5 years of experience configuring and managing Core Compensation within Workday.
- Workday Advanced Compensation: 5+ years of experience implementing Advanced Compensation solutions in complex client environments.
- Workday Certification: Active Workday certification required.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with R1 Higher Education institutions.
- Proven track record of leading functional teams within ERP implementations.
- Knowledge of Workday best practices tailored for Higher Education clients.

The person in this role will be responsible for the following:
- Leading Workday design sessions for Core HCM/ Academics, Core Compensation and Advanced Compensation and providing Workday and Higher Education leading practice design advice to the client.
- Configuring Workday or guiding other consulting resources to configure Workday per the client's requirements.
- Assessing cross-functional HCM design and ensuring that the consultant team is creating a cohesive design and configuration experience to the client.
- Assessing cross-platform design between HCM and FIN and ensuring a cohesive design and configuration experience for the client.
- Supporting the client through all phases of testing and resolving or overseeing resolution of testing defects.
- Supporting the client through cutover, go-live and hypercare.
- Working closely with the PMO and OCM Team to ensure visibility and risk mitigation in the HCM functional workstream.
