Job Description
The Human Resources Generalist will provide vital support to the Senior Managers and Department Heads across the Business Unit. With a focus on labor and employee relations, they will plan, coordinate, and direct the administrative functions of the business unit. They oversee the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of new staff; consult with top executives on strategic planning; and serve as a link between an organization's management and its employees.
Job Responsibilities
Labor Relations:
? Serve as a point of contact for labor-related inquiries and issues.
? Assist in the administration of collective bargaining agreements and maintain effective relationships with labor unions.
? Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws concerning human resources (i.e., Federal and State Minimum Wage Laws, Affirmative Action, Immigration Reform Control Act, Equal Employment Opportunity Act etc.).
? Assists in the evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the department and services performed.
Employee Relations:
? Foster a positive work environment by addressing employee concerns and grievances in a timely manner.
? Conduct investigations into employee complaints and recommend appropriate actions.
? Promote employee engagement initiatives and support the development of employee feedback mechanisms.
Conflict Resolution:
? Mediate disputes between employees and management, utilizing conflict resolution techniques to find amicable solutions.
? Develop and implement strategies to minimize conflict and promote collaboration across teams.
Training and Development:
? Identify training needs and design programs to enhance employee skills and team performance.
? Coordinate and facilitate training sessions on topics such as conflict resolution, communication, and team-building.
? Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for improvements.
Personnel:
? Responsible for all talent management-related activities to ensure employee development and engagement.
? Issue resolution, follow-up, and recommendations for corporate COE?s including but not limited to Hotline call response, investigation, Corrective action/performance management consulting, and Policy interpretation.
? Partner with management to participate in and witness disciplinary sessions, employee roundtables, and investigations for your development.
? Assists in developing and implementing personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
Staffing:
? Assists management in determining staffing needs. Recommends and implements recruiting, hiring, and retention strategies for the unit.
? Monitor onboarding completion and work with the Hiring Manager
? Responsible for constantly evaluating the new hire processes and providing feedback and suggestions for simplification and streamlining policies and procedures.
Qualifications
? Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
? 3+ years of experience in HR, with a focus on labor relations and employee relations.
? Strong understanding of labor laws and regulations.
? Proven conflict resolution and mediation skills.
? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
? Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
? Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
? Experience managing unionized staff and working with CBAs preferred.
