The Opportunity: We are seeking an HR Manager for our client, the Faison Center. Over its 25-year history, the Faison Center has continuously evolved to meet the changing and growing needs of individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. The result is a broad array of programs serving individuals from as early as 18 months through adulthood.
Job Summary
In collaboration with the Director of Human Resources, the HR Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing all workers' compensation claims processes and investigations and ensuring all safety protocols are adhered to within company guidelines. This position will also develop and execute effective recruitment strategies to meet the organization's recruitment goal.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Worker's Compensation
- Manage and oversee the end-to-end Workers Compensations claims process, including filing claims, coordinating with insurance carriers and managing claim resolution.
- Ensure timely processing of workers' compensation claims process, medical authorizations, and treatment, as well as provide administrative support for time loss claims, awards, and settlements as needed.
- Conduct investigations of workplace incidents and accidents and work with safety committees to prevent future occurrences.
- Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
- Serve as the primary contact for all parties during the workers' compensation process, including the injured employee, school nurse, workers' compensation insurance representatives, healthcare provider, and Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission.
- Maintain workers' compensation records.
- Track open and closed status through the insurer's online portal and Paylocity.
- Report any workplace incident to OSHA that results in a fatality, in-patient hospitalization, amputation, or loss of an eye.
- Train line managers and injured employees on procedures related to worker injuries and workers'
- In collaboration with school nurses, develop and administer the initial injury response, return to work, and light duty program.
- For light duty assignments, review the job description's essential functions and eliminate some tasks or replace them with others that are more suitable for the employee's physical limitations. Issue light duties letters and track progress.
- Review the insurer's monthly.
- Advise on trends in injuries and proper safety procedures that may result in a reduction of injuries.
- Participate in the annual renewal process for workers' compensation.
Recruitment
- Develop and implement effective recruiting strategies to attract top talent across various functions and levels within the organization.
- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, selecting, and onboarding candidates.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and create job descriptions that reflect these needs.
- Utilize various recruiting tools and platforms, including social media, job boards, networking events, and employee referrals, to source qualified candidates.
- Build and maintain relationships with external recruitment agencies, educational institutions, and professional networks.
- Track and analyze recruitment metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimize recruitment strategies.
HR Manager
- Act as a trusted advisor and partner to managers and employees, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Collaborate with department heads to understand business needs and align HR strategies with organizational goals.
- Assist in developing and implementing HR initiatives to support employee engagement, retention, and development.
- Facilitate employee relations issues, conduct investigations, and resolve conflicts in a fair and consistent manner.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in human resources, with a focus on Workers' Compensation and Recruitment.
- In-depth knowledge of Workers' Compensation laws, regulations, and claims management processes.
- Proven experience managing full-cycle recruitment and talent acquisition processes.
- Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment law, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in HR software and tools, including Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and HRIS.
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.

Benefits
Competitive salary commensurate with experience. The salary range is $60,000 to $70,000.
