ABOUT ACHIEVERS:
Achievers Early College Prep Charter School (AECP) is New Jersey's first public charter school for students in middle school and high school that provides them with the unique opportunity to pursue one of four STEAM pathways (Health Sciences, Digital Media, Audio Engineering and Cisco Computer Networking). Students can have access to a program that allows them to earn up to 60 college credits, NOCTI credentials and workplace training. AECP is determined to ensure that students can enhance their journey through high school and graduate with content mastery, skills, and experiences that are essential to the current marketplace and the world beyond.
Position Overview:
The Head Coach for High School Basketball at Achievers Charter School is responsible
for leading and managing the basketball program. This position requires a passionate individual
with strong coaching abilities, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to the holistic
development of student-athletes.
Responsibilities:
Program Leadership:
Provide strategic direction for the Boys Middle School Basketball program.
Develop and implement effective coaching strategies to enhance individual and team
performance.
Player Development:
Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that prioritizes skill development, teamwork, and
sportsmanship.
Conduct regular practices focused on skill enhancement, tactical understanding, and physical
conditioning.
Game Management:
Plan and execute game strategies that align with team goals.
Ensure fair play, adherence to rules, and maintain a positive and respectful environment during
games.
Player Evaluation:
Assess player skills and progress to inform individualized coaching approaches.
Provide constructive feedback to players to support their growth and development.
Team Coordination:
Collaborate with assistant coaches, staff, and volunteers to ensure a cohesive and efficient
basketball program.
Foster a sense of teamwork and camaraderie among players.
Communication:
Maintain open and transparent communication with players, parents, school administration, and
fellow coaches.
Keep stakeholders informed about team progress, schedules, and any relevant updates.Game Day Operations:
Coordinate logistics for home and away games, including transportation, equipment, and
facilities with your Athletic Coordinator.
Ensure compliance with league rules and regulations during all game-related activities.
Assistant Coach Collaboration:
Work closely with the Assistant Coach to delegate responsibilities and ensure a unified coaching
approach.
Foster a positive coaching partnership that benefits the overall program.
Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience, preferably in middle school or youth basketball.
Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and game management.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team environment.
COMPENSATION:
- $4,500 Stipend
