Position Summary:
Incumbent maintains and repairs heating and air conditioning and ventilation systems, electric motor driven absorber type chillers, window air conditioners, refrigerated laboratory equipment, walk-in and domestic type refrigerators and freezers and refrigerated water fountains, energy management systems, air compressors, pneumatic and electronic controls, electric driven chillers and support equipment, etc. in or about the medical center facility and off-site clinics.
Essential Job Functions:

- Performs routine preventive maintenance in a timely manner. Ensures that areas of responsibility are conducted in compliance with regulatory requirements, policies and law. Handles trouble calls and dispatches trade or crafts to emergency. Tests equipment to ensure proper functioning. 40%
- Installs, maintains, repairs and makes alterations to various trade specific equipment. Interprets schematics, blueprints, technical specifications, manufacturer's recommendations/requirements, and MSDS to assure correct and safe installation of systems and equipment. 25%
- Identifies problems and recommends repairs and/or improvements. Troubleshoots problems to identify cause, repair and report status. Identifies and requisitions parts and materials to perform work. 15%
- Accurately maintains all required records/documentation. 20%

Required Qualifications:
- Understanding of regulatory controls and requirements of NEC, NFPA, AQMD, OSHA, and JCAHO standards
- Must work overtime or alternate shifts as required to meet hospital needs
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must possess EPA Certification, or have the ability to obtain within 3 months
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Current State of California Driver's License
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, shop drawings and manufacturers technical manuals
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
