About the Job
Responsibilities
- Performs preventive maintenance and service repairs on HVAC and refrigeration systems
- Installs new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines
- Installs and repairs refrigeration piping and copper water lines to 1 7/8' OD without supervision
- Performs all types of replacement/repair to iron threaded piping systems, isolation valves & control valves
- Troubleshoots and repairs all types of line and low voltage (24V) circuits including operating and safety controls for single zone systems unsupervised and multi-zone systems with supervision
- Performs preventive maintenance and service repairs on HVAC and refrigeration systems
- Installs new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals independently
- Wide degree of creativity and latitude is required in order to function independently with customers and co-workers in order to fulfill contractual requirements
- May be requested to lead and direct the work of other team members
- Installs and repairs refrigeration piping and copper water lines to 2 5/8' OD without supervision
- Understands applications, troubleshoots and repairs/replaces all components of all types and sizes of HVAC systems with increasing independence.
- Troubleshoots and repairs all types of line and low voltage (24V) circuits as well as solid state electronic and digital controls serving unitary equipment and stand-alone multi-zone systems unsupervised
- Troubleshoots repairs and replaces all components of all types of HVAC systems up to 25 tons, unsupervised, up to 100 tons supervised
- Performs repairs and replacement of existing ductwork and air delivery systems including dampers, actuators and appurtenances serving ducted systems and equipment
- Performs unsupervised repairs on all types and sizes of HVAC systems
- Always leaves worksite clean and neat after the job is completed
- Has excellent knowledge of the commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within the field
- Demonstrates continued growth with team leadership through professional motivation and initiative
- Ability to act as lead worker
- Ability to work overtime as needed, sometimes with little notice
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is a must; AAS or BS in HVAC or related fields preferred
- 8-10 years of experience in commercial HVAC field
- Vocational training, certified technical HVAC training, or EPA refrigerant certification (CFC)
- Mechanical aptitude and problem solving abilities
- Nate Certified in at least 4 Technician Specialties
- Has successfully completed the Carrier VVT, Pump/Pump Curve, Cooling Tower and Balancing Classes. Has attended no less than 10 hours of additional in-house training classes during the previous calendar year or similar level of approved training elsewhere
- Ability to correctly identify and account for all charges and maintenance activities based on contract language
- Completion of Basic Electricity and Electrical Safety Classes
- Demonstrated ability to perform limited iron piping repair and replacement up to 2'
- Professional demeanor and mannerisms with the ability to communicate with and serve customers
