OBJECTIVE:
The Receiving Lead will manage, maintain, and develop programs and procedures for effective operations of receiving, stocking, counting, and loss prevention within the Inventory Department. The desired result of these activities is a clean and well-stocked store with accurate quantity on hand and declining losses. The Receiving Supervisor will accomplish the above directly or oversee by delegating responsibility. Receiving Stocking Lead will lead by example to ensure high standards of communication, accountability, and customer service.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- In accordance with company policies and procedures, will manage receiving, stocking, and counting of inventory and make final decisions on important matters regarding these activities.
- Assist the Assistant Inventory Manager in the development of inventory policies and procedures to ensure smooth and consistent operations.
- Work closely with staff to manage, motivate, train, schedule in accordance to company policies and employment laws.
- Ensure company procedures are followed in regards to staff attendance, schedules and will assist the Assistant Inventory Manager in employee reviews and provide feedback in employee disciplinary matters.
- Observe and interact daily with inventory staff in your area.
- Provide direction to those Inventory Department staff working under you regarding operational and procedural issues. Solve any individual department issues as they arise.
- Keep Asst. Inventory Manager fully informed of all matters of significance and take prompt corrective action where necessary or suggest alternative course of action.
- Create a positive working environment that will build morale.
- Work with Accounts Payable to resolve any issues in billing and to ensure credits are obtained in a timely manner from vendors.
RECEIVING:
- Oversee the receiving department to ensure that all paperwork is properly handled, processed and updated in a timely manner and any errors are rectified promptly.
STOCKING:
- Oversee the stocking department to ensure products coming in are properly processed, tagged, if needed, and stocked.
- Ensure the checking in of special order merchandise is handled properly and efficiently.
- Ensure backstock is put on shelves on a regular schedule.
- Help prioritize the activities of the department when any backlog occurs.
- Assign and follow up on any special projects.
PURCHASING:
- Work with Buyers with a focus on keeping proper stocking quantities, adequate levels of seasonal items, discontinuing poor movers, bringing in new merchandise, maintaining proper pricing, and ensuring proper handling of computer functions relating to these activities.
- Aid in the training and feedback that ensures buyers are making the proper buying decisions including best pricing, dating, timeliness of deliveries, guaranteed buy back of new items if not selling, drop ships when appropriate, and adequate fill levels from vendors.
- Work with Buyers and vendors to arrange buy backs or swap outs of slow moving items.
- Provide information and training to salespeople regarding current and new products.
- Oversee returns of stock and special order items to ensure they are promptly handled.
- Work with Accounts Payable to resolve any issues in billing of inventory purchases and to ensure credits are obtained in a timely manner from vendors.
BACK-STOCK AREAS:
- Oversee back-stock areas to ensure products are properly stocked, organized and tagged.
- Oversight of the hardware order puller to ensure hardware orders for deliveries and will calls are pulled promptly and correctly.
COUNTING:
- Oversee, develop programs, and schedule counting activity within the department with the goal of ensuring all counts are as accurate as possible.
LOSS PREVENTION:
- Oversee, develop programs, and monitor loss activity with the goal of diminishing shrink year over year, in conjunction with the Inventory Manager and Assistant Inventory Manager.
OTHER:
- Walk the facility daily, noting:
- Areas needing attention with regards to tidiness, inventory levels, & back-stock (follow up with assignments as needed to bring to an acceptable level)
- Review the zero quantity report daily:
- Work with buyers to set order points to keep outs to a minimum
- Work with buyers to get negative counts fixed
- Discontinue items when appropriate - following proper procedure and arranging for remerchandising of area so as not to leave empty spaces
- Learn computer and phone system functions necessary to do all tasks efficiently and accurately – to include Eagle Functions and Excel.
- Work with the Assistant Inventory Manager in the coordination of physical counting of inventory once a year.
- Attend purchasing events or shows as needed.
- Communicate with other departments to accomplish a smooth flow of information between departments, Concord Store and coordination of activities.
- Assign and follow up on any special projects to be accomplished by the department.
- Attend meetings and contribute to company strategy and policy-making as required.
- Assist in special projects as requested by GM. This may include logistical planning and development of new or existing space. Assist in project management as needed.
