This role is a high impact position needed to lead the delivery of data programs within MunichRE’s Global Specialty Organization (GSI). The ideal candidate will play a leading role in the technical implementation of change projects supporting the need to improve data management and analytics capabilities following all compliance / regulatory needs. You will be responsible for teams of seasoned IT professionals across two organizations as well as directly interact with senior level business leaders on a regular basis
Technical work will include, but not limited to the acquisition, organization, integration, transformation and secure storage of mission-critical data. This role will report into the Head of Business Solutions and Data & Analytics for GSI.Qualifications and responsibilities:Lead a team of strong and diverse IT professionals with focus on future proof IT skills and a strong business mindset
Deliver all approved and in-flight and pipeline initiatives – with an emphasis on a willingness to deep dive into the business domain, partner with data solution architecture, DevOps and product management teams.Actively lead the recruitment of new talent and the development of existing talent to deliver all approved and in-flight and initiatives.Foster strong relationships with various business-side executives to ensure projects align to the business objectives
Build trust and a reputation as a leader who gets things done.Become the ‘trusted tech partner’ for digital and technology consulting, implementation and ongoing delivery of change projects
Strong and close collaboration with IT Program Management in setting up and steering of the transform projects to ensure they deliver on time and budget, and that they meet or exceed business expectationsEnsure project level status reporting including project financials, resource and capacity management and financial planning
Act with the delegated authority of leadership.Actively manage, troubleshoot and resolve escalated items including highlighting any gaps within budget or resources required
This includes pro-active vendor management, external resource planning and vendor deliverablesPartner closely with peers and their teams as part of the delivery process.Manage IT and operational risks relating to compliance, risk, audit and privacy/data protection, ensuring that system and process controls are compliant with applicable Munich Re policies, standards and all regulations.Build, lead and preserve a highly motivated and high performing world-class team culture – think globally and act locally to promote teamwork within your organization and with the broader Global IT teamProven experience owning business and partner/vendor relationships.Help drive forward good Conduct for the business to deliver the best outcomes for customers / policyholders.This position also requires sound technical skills, the ability to collaborate across teams both on-off shore, an operational / delivery mindset, and exceptional leadership and mentoring skills
Successful candidates will also possess the following experience, skills, qualifications, and/or competencies:Strong IT influencing leadership/mentoring skills and experience with a track record of empowering people to execute efficiently towards a common and understood goal.Ability to work in a complicated environment with multiple global jurisdictions. The ability to successfully manage multiple, competing priorities and coordinate multiple tasks to ensure that work output from others is delivered on-time and accurately while operating in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment.Consulting and collaborative working style creating a culture of accountability and sharing.Advanced verbal and written communications skills, as well as active listening, along with teamwork and presentations are essential
Must communicate clearly, effectively, and concisely, both verbally and in written form.Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to address challenges and implement effective solutions.10+ years of experience and in-depth knowledge of data delivery and all associated principles.Prior experience in insurance and/or reinsurance or a closely related domain in support of specialty lines is a necessity.A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field is preferred.Technical Requirements Extensive experience managing teams that have hands on experience in SQL, Python, Data Integration/Mass Ingestion/pipelining and associated patterns both on prem and in cloud environments. Tooling examples include - Informatica IICS, ADF, Notebooks, Databricks, Delta Lake, Warehousing technologies and associated patterns, Cloud platforms – Azure preferred.Experience with one of more cloud service providers – AWS, Azure, or GCP. Azure is preferred.Experience with automated data pipelines and working closely with the DevSecOps organization for environment provisioning / setup, A history with traditional Database management systems – SQL Server and Oracle for both cloud and on premise options.Understanding of PAAS services relating to data, analytics, and integration interfaces – Databricks, etc.Professional certifications in public cloud and tooling are a plus.Can oversee and actively support the analysis of data requirements and can actively remove blockers for the delivery team as needed as part of complex buildsDemonstrated experience with Agile delivery frameworks/methodologies (e.g
Scrum, SAFe) and tools (i.e
Jira, AzureDevOps) working closely with a large system integrator..Understanding data related security challenges and tooling with specific technologies (e.g
Databricks)Experience in migrating data and associated systems from on-prem to Cloud environmentsKnowledge of advanced analytics (models, tools, etc.) and their operational support is a plus.Master Data Management (MDM) and Reference Data Management (RDM): Experience with MDM and RDM toolsets is required.Proficiency/experience with Data visualization tooling and exposing data through a consumption layer. Medallion paradigm.Insurance Domain: Experience with data models specific to the insurance industry and demonstrable success in applying these models.Demonstrate a firm understanding of FinOps and its focus in your day to day for data delivery.Support all cross team integration ensuring adherence to all toll gates and other compliance mandates in supporting data delivery.Data Profiling, Cataloging, Metadata, and Data Mapping: Extensive experience in data profiling to ensure data quality, along with solid expertise in data cataloging, metadata management, and data mapping.
