RACS is currently seeking a motivated, qualified individual to work in our coverage area of Rockbridge and Bath County, and the Cities of Lexington and Buena Vista. RACS will provide training, supervision, and education opportunities specific to the position.

Position Overview:
The HCAT Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of the Healthy Communities Action Team (HCAT) grant from Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth. Will work with several key Community Action Team partner organizations to carry out obesity prevention events, activities, and other initiatives outlined in the grant action plan. responsible for mobilizing key member groups to carry out initiatives, build capacity of the HCAT, act as liaison between RACS Prevention Services and organizations to implement youth fitness programs, coordinate youth nutrition projects, and work to improve community food access. Will work closely with the Prevention Services Program Manager on strategic planning and sustainability planning for the HCAT. Microsoft Office skills are essential, must have excellent people skills and abundance of energy and enthusiasm for the topic of childhood nutrition and fitness. Professional communication skills are essential. Will remain informed of new and available resources and initiatives relating to improved food access, nutrition and fitness promotion, is accountable to the annual goals and objectives that guide the programs, fulfills obligations to Prevention Services database reporting within RACS, is accurate in securing data needed for program evaluation, and keeps program materials ordered as needed.
In carrying out the duties of this position, this person is required to exercise sound judgment to implement programs; be able to work both independently and as a team member; and maintain confidentiality. The incumbent works under the supervision of the Prevention Services Program Manager.
Qualifications:
Education and experience: Minimum: High School Diploma. Associate or bachelor's degree preferred. Prior experience in group/organization facilitation desired. Some experience with youth and/or the prevention field, preferred.

Probationary Period:
All persons that are newly hired, rehired, transferred, promoted, or demoted into a Rockbridge Area Community Services position must serve a new 6-month probationary period.
