Summary:
Works under the direct supervision of the licensed nurse to perform a variety of technical procedures for the patient's dialysis. Provides safe, effective and compassionate care that is consistent with state and federal regulations and dialysis policies, procedures and guidelines, and within the scope of practice.
Responsibilities:
Initiates and monitors patient treatment; may cannulate patient to begin treatment as directed by the licensed professional and as per state guidelines.Discontinues treatment as directed by the licensed professional and as per state guidelines.Starts up the Reverse Osmosis water system, completing required water quality monitoring tests, prior to initiation of dialysis. Prepares hemodialysis equipment: sets up and tests equipment, primes machine, strings machine with tubing, checks supplies and stock.Disinfects treatment area according to facility policy and procedure between treatments. Properly disposes of biohazards following policies and CDC guidelines for infection control.Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse professionals, delivers hemodialysis treatment to assigned patients as prescribed, including all aspects of the procedure.Documents all activities related to the patient treatment on the hemodialysis flow sheet.

Required Work Experience: No prior work experience required.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum of six (6) months of clinical work. Prior proven experience in renal area relevant to patient. Prior experience in a patient care setting, healthcare industry or comparable experience.
