About the Job
Our organization is seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative Middle School Co-Teacher to join our dynamic teaching team. This role involves working alongside a general education teacher in an inclusive classroom setting to support students with diverse learning needs. The co-teacher will share responsibilities in planning, delivering instruction, and assessing students, ensuring that all students have access to the general curriculum while receiving individualized support.
Overview:
- Monitor student progress and use formative assessments to inform instruction.
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel supported and challenged.
- Co-plan and co-deliver lessons that meet the needs of all students, utilizing differentiated instruction strategies.
- Work closely with the school leadership and other staff to develop inclusive instructional strategies and interventions.
- Collaborate with special education teachers, support staff, and related service providers to develop and monitor student IEPs.
- Assist in managing classroom behavior and creating a positive learning environment through proactive behavior management strategies.
Requirements
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Valid Illinois Teaching Certification in Special Education or related area
- Experience in co-teaching or collaborating with teachers in an inclusive classroom setting
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction, IEP implementation, and classroom accommodations
