About the Job
The position is responsible for directing day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department along with responsibilities in Human Resources. This position ensures the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of the financial reporting and Accounting functions while providing information and assistance to the Controller.
Education & Experience:
A minimum of 1 year progressive experience in hotel Accounting or related field;
Physical Requirements:

Essential:
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Hotel standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include compliance with Hotel dress code and wearing a name tag when working.
- Comply and ensure adherence to Hotel standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
- Maximize productivity, identify problem areas and assist in finding and implementing their solutions.
- Continually work on a defined development plan, which prepares the Accounting Assistant for expanded responsibility within the organization.
- Assist Controller in ensuring hotel’s compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes. Provide assistance to management in enforcing compliance on all these items.
- Ensure that all balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, are properly reconciled, per standards, on a timely basis.
- Review and approve the Income Audit daily, and ensure that critical operations procedures are accomplished on a daily basis, to include credit card reconciliation and transmission, daily deposits, cash short/over reporting, bank audits, allowances and paid-outs, etc.
- Prepare and distribute daily financial reports as a morning priority
- Be aware of and assist the General Manager in all internal financial controls including purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, inventories, hotel assets, master keys, payroll, records retention and employee records.
- Assist the Controller in ensuring implementation and completion of all Accounting Key Competencies.
- Assist Hotel managers in new hire process
- Process bi-weekly payroll.
- Maintain compliance with Hotel standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient operation of the hotel.
- Ensure the proper utilization, maintenance and periodic upgrades of all EDP equipment.
- Prepare all financial reports in accordance with Hotel requirements, meeting various due dates and deadlines, i.e.,
Weekly: A/R & A/P Aging; Flash Reports; Payroll Reports; Daily Cash Receipts
Monthly: Financial Statements; Inventory Counts; Balance Sheet Recs.; Key Statistics Report
