Host/Greeter - Tamarack Resort

The hostess is an individual who greets customers as they arrive at the outlet and often is the last to say goodbye to them as they leave.  You will be responsible for scheduling dining reservations for guests in advance and as they arrive at the restaurant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned, including weekend work.

• Make decisions about where a group will sit in the restaurant.
• The hostess directs and instructs the dining room personnel on customer needs to ensure customers receive fast and quality service from the moment they arrive.
• Should a party have special needs or request accommodations, the hostess ensure the group's requirements are met. This may include services needed for small children, as well as for individuals with disabilities or food allergies.
• Hostesses greet guests as they arrive and take them to their seats. They also provide a menu and explain specials. Answer immediate questions the patrons have, and introduce the customers to their server.
• The hostess also inspects and maintains the dining facilities. They do by instructing the buss personnel and wait staff. They may be required to spot cleanliness problems and to help clear tables to facility customer needs.
• Ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional.
• Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, and support team to reach common goals.
• Proper trash and recycling practices.
• Inform guests about specialty drinks, as well as answer questions about food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services.
• Understand additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests.
• Guest maintenance, and attention to detail throughout the guests experience.
• Finish all opening and closing duties on a deadline basis.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Requires knowledge of computer hardware, word-processing, spreadsheet and data base software, prefer experience with Microsoft Office.  Requires knowledge of business letter writing and business forms; office procedures, business English, including vocabulary, correct grammatical usage and punctuation, filing systems; and common office machines and their operation.

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous work experience in customer service

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Fluent in English

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

• Ability to do basic arithmetic

• Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
