Job Overview
The purpose of this position is to offer to our guests an extraordinary dining experience while following the restaurant rules, policies and procedures. Restaurant Servers are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive to our guest needs and making them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed.
General Responsibilities
- Helping the server in opening and closing the restaurant, depending on the shift –this includes : storing all reusable goods, breaking down goods, cleaning all equipment and areas, returning equipment to proper locations, locking refrigerators, restocking items, turning off lights, locking doors, and completing daily cleaning checklist. Set up, stock, and maintain work areas. Inspect the cleanliness and presentation of all china, glass, and silver prior to use;Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures. (including restroom, server area, parking lot etc)
- Helping the servers with whatever they need in order to offer to the restaurant guests an extraordinary experience
- Assists and helps the server in all his/her tasks
- Prepares the tables according to the restaurant policies
- Busses and cleans the tables and the tables condiments after the guests leave
- Setting up the tables to the restaurant standard
- Accomplishing the shift lists and any other job duties as requested by Supervisors, Shift Leads and/or Manager
- Taking the water, drinks and food to the table
- Knowing the menu items; Staying updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items,etc.
- Handling the table reservations if the server is busy
- Opening the door to the customers when they come and leave, greeting the customers, directing the customers to their tables, presenting menus, suggesting dishes, assisting in drink selection, informing customers about food preparation details, communicating specific customer needs to the cooks
- Greeting all guests warmly with an appropriate greeting
- Maintaining proper dining experience, delivering items in a timely manner, fulfilling customer needs, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling/changing glasses
- Stocking the orders delivered to the restaurant
- Report accidents and unsafe work conditions to manager;
- Performing the tasks directed by manager and/or Shift Lead
- Filling in for absent staff as needed
- Assisting with special events as needed
- Working with other colleagues and be a team player
- Participating in keeping a friendly and fun working environment; Treating the other colleagues, suppliers and guest with respect
- Following the restaurant rules, policies and procedures
- Participate in all the meetings scheduled by the manager
- Protecting establishment and guests by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies
- Staying updated with rules, policies and procedures by using our internal channel of communication
- Rolling silverware, stocking silverware and dinnerware, cleaning salad dressings and condiments containers
- When necessary, washing the silverware, dishes, glassware etc.
- To hold the other employees accountable for any breaking of the rules and procedures & to let the management team know if the problem persists
- Reporting to the shift lead if any problem appears on the floor, kitchen or any other part of the restaurant
- This position responds to the Shift Lead and The Manager
Qualifications
- Availability to work in the weekends, holidays and overtime
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Excellent communication skills
- Quick thinking
- Great attention to detail
- Positive interpersonal skills required
- Discretion / Independent Judgment
- Must be able to stand, walk, lift and bend for up to 8 hours a day
- Able to follow the rules, policies and procedures established by the management team
- Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English
- Ability to lift heavy trays filled with glassware/food
