Housekeeping/Maintenance Coordinator - Helen Keller National Center for Deaf Blind Youths and Adults

We currently have an exciting career opportunity available to join the HKS team as a Housekeeping/Maintenance Coordinator in our Brooklyn location.


SUMMARY


Responsible for the execution of HKS’s Mission, goals and objectives through providing maintenance and housekeeping services to consumers, staff and visitors of HKSB in the Brooklyn Facility.





ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.






+ To provide cleaning services necessary to maintain the interior of the buildings in a clean and sanitary condition.


+ Assists in exterior cleaning on a temporary basis.


+ Performs cleaning of offices, CLC classrooms, corridors, furnishings, toilet rooms, storerooms, and workrooms so as to maintain their surfaces in a clean and sanitary condition.


+ Assist in cleaning sidewalks, driveways and parking areas of snow or debris when required.


+ Remove trash and debris to outside containers.


+ Typical light building maintenance e.g. lighting/wall/ceiling/furniture repairs etc. Light mechanical maintenance e.g. filter change/drive-belt change/lubrications etc.


+ Ability to use a variety of tools used in the various cleaning and maintenance processes. Proper use of drills, reciprocating saw, hand-tools, carpet/rug shampoo, floor buffing, and vacuum machines.


+ Responsible for other duties as may be assigned or requested by his/her immediate supervisor and/or the Director of the Department.






REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


High school diploma or equivalency preferred.


Prior housekeeping and maintenance experience preferred, including knowledge of proper use and storage of hazardous cleaning and related materials.
