Job DescriptionThe HR Generalist is responsible for supporting people services in multiple states. The primary focus is managing payroll and benefits, coordinating all stages of the hiring process, and actively working to improve employee engagement. This role requires the ability to successfully manage tasks and assignments in multiple areas. Initiative and ownership of responsibilities are critical to the success of this individual.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Efficiently and accurately performs/processes bi-weekly payroll, ensuring all payroll-related tasks are completed with precision. This includes addressing any payroll questions and inquiries from employees, providing clear and timely responses. Demonstrating proficiency in utilizing and mastering the payroll system (Kronos), identifying and implementing efficiencies where needed to streamline processes. Responsible for generating and balancing all bi-weekly payroll reports for Finance department purposes, ensuring all data is accurate and up-to-date.
- Provides 401(k) audit support as needed and processes bi-weekly 401(k) updates.
- Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, and communicating benefit information to employees, as needed.
- Performs the annual open enrollment, including education and administration.
- Completes employment verifications for current and former employees.
- Administers FMLA and Leave of Absence paperwork as needed.
- Coordinates all stages of the hiring process and onboarding for all positions, both in person and virtually. Utilizing ATS for recruitment to assist managers with hiring, vetting resumes and conducting telephone screens. Organizing meetings with hiring managers and providing recruitment updates to Senior Leadership.
- Conducting training sessions on all systems for employees and managers at various levels. Answering questions as they arise regarding system utilization (Kronos, Smart Recruiters, Talent Soft).
- Updates and streamlines HR record keeping processes, including filing, maintaining hard copies/electronic copies, entering information into our systems, creating controlled documents, and ensuring that all HR files remain legally compliant.
- Participates in safety initiatives and become a member of the Safety Committee.
- Protects organization's value by keeping all company-related information confidential.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising leadership on needed actions.
- Assists with employee resolution, investigating issues as they arise.
- Maintains all training records and monitor training expirations.
- Assists in the planning and execution of all employee engagement activities, including company sponsored events.
- Spends time at each facility to properly support the workforce as needed.
- Collaboration with associates in multiple departments and at multiple levels within the organization.
- Assists in supporting the UTAC culture and values (Integrity, Expertise, and Innovation).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Skill Requirements:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or organizational development and at least four years related experience.
- Two to four years payroll and benefits administration required.
- HR Certification a plus.
- Desire to engage in additional HR responsibilities.
- Specialized training in employment law and/or employee relations preferred.
- Experience navigating difficult conversations to reach the desired outcome.
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications and the ability to become proficient in any systems that we use (Concur, Kronos, etc.).
- Strong problem solving, strategic thinking and analytical skills required.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Strong time management, multi-tasking, and organization skills.
- Strong attention to detail required.
- Exceptional work ethic and positive attitude required.
- Fluency in the English language is required.
- Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area.
- Self-starter, who can multi-task and possess strong communication skills.
- Able to function as part of a team, with members of varying job levels, and work cooperatively toward team goals.
- Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job.
- Accept instructions and tasks in a positive manner, treating all co-workers with dignity and respect.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for traveling between multiple work sites as needed.
- Required on-site work as needed, a minimum of 3 days per week.
- Consistently adhere to, and support all UTAC policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Physical Requirements:
- Exposure to industry accepted chemicals and noise.
- Regularly required to stand, reach, bend and move about the facility.
- Able to lift and/or move materials as needed in the performance of assigned duties.
- Requirements include, but are not limited to stand, walk, sit, twist, bend, lift, see, speak, hear.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
