General Job Summary:
The Human Resources Intern will directly assist the Human Resources Director with a wide range of projects related to HR compliance, recruiting, onboarding/orientation, employee benefits, employee engagement and various administrative programs. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills she or he may have acquired in school related to his or her particular areas of interest and apply them in a professional setting. He or she will gain a better understanding of the role that Human Resources can play in an organization and be better prepared to work in the arena of human resources and the nonprofit sector.
The Human Resources Intern must be available to work a minimum of 16 hours a week. Flexibility in scheduling is a must. Typical schedule will be Monday – Friday during normal business hours.
Education and Experience:
- Candidates for the HR Intern position must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, preferred include Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or Organizational Management.
- Current Junior or Senior status in college
- Human Resources Knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A team player with a can-do attitude
- GPA minimum of 3.0
- Local candidates only, stipend for living will not be provided
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assists HR Managers with projects related to improving employee satisfaction or recruitment.
- Provides the VP of Human Resources with a comprehensive analysis of labor relation laws as they may pertain to Infinite Legacy. Understanding the importance of employment law and compliance, especially regarding employment eligibility, confidentiality, proper maintenance of employee files, and forms management.
- Researching and collecting data for various HR initiatives and assist in implementing HR policies and procedures
- Collaborates with the Finance team in the areas of new employee paperwork, payroll issues related to onboarding and termination, use of a payroll management database, and report generation.
- Supports the Recruiter with the full life cycle recruitment process. Recruitment activities including but not limited to; sourcing potential candidates, posting job openings, reviewing resumes, conducting telephone and in-person interviews, making job offers negotiating starting salaries, Performing Reference and background checks, preparing for onsite talent days, and coordinating new-employee orientations.
- Support the Human Resource Generalist in the on-boarding of new hires.
- Assists with the creation of employee communications, including emails, flyers and presentations.
- Supports the Instructional Designer with coordination and development of employee training materials
- Works in close collaboration with other members of the Human Resources department and provides administrative support as needed.
