About the Role:
Ateema Media & Marketing is seeking a talented Freelance Social Media Video Editor to join our team and manage the editing for our @ChicagoDoes social media accounts on Instagram and TikTok. This role focuses on short-term and long-form video content (between 15 seconds to 1 minute), spotlighting local businesses and attractions in Chicago. You'll be working directly with our creative team to ensure videos follow our established brand guidelines, with room for creative freedom after the initial weeks.
The ideal candidate has a strong eye for design and storytelling, is proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, and understands social media video production. You will work closely with our Director of Marketing, and videographer/on-camera freelancer to produce engaging, high-quality content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Video Editing: Edit both short-form (10-25 seconds) and long-form (1 minute) videos for @ChicagoDoes, ensuring each video follows brand guidelines and maintains a consistent visual style across Instagram and TikTok. Content will include a mix of organic features for audience engagement and high-quality client projects.
- Collaborate with Team: Work closely with the videographer/on-camera freelancer to create cohesive videos that reflect the vision, ensuring all content is approved by the Director of Marketing.
- Post-Production Quality: Maintain high standards in post-production, ensuring clean cuts, balanced audio, color correction, and proper export settings for each platform. Integrate voiceovers seamlessly, ensuring clarity and smooth transitions.
- Storytelling and Engagement: Focus on creating videos that engage viewers from the first few seconds and maintain their interest throughout. Use effective pacing, transitions, and visual elements to support a clear, engaging narrative.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro/Final Cut/Related Software: Extensive experience with professional video editing software, supported by a portfolio of social media videos similar to @ChicagoDoes.
- Filming Basics: Familiarity with filming fundamentals, including working with raw footage, creating cohesive edits using a mix of wide, medium, and close-up shots, and integrating B-roll. Experience cutting interviews and layering relevant B-roll over audio while being adaptable and selective with footage.
- Attention to Design: Strong understanding of color theory, composition, and visual storytelling to enhance video quality and maintain audience engagement.
- Portfolio of Relevant Work: Provide examples of social media video content, particularly for Instagram and TikTok, that demonstrate your editing style and creativity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
- Background in journalism, media/film studies, enhancing content quality and engagement.
- Basic understanding of marketing principles and the ability to convey important messages.
- Preference for candidates who are juniors in college or older, ideally with coursework in video editing and/or filmmaking courses or masterclasses.
- Experience conducting interviews and comfort being in front of the camera.
Tools and Equipment:
- Adobe Creative Services provided
- You must provide your own laptop and external hard drive for editing.
- Headphones for audio editing is recommended
Location & Schedule:
- This position is based in Chicago, with in-office requirements of 1 day per week (flexible) at our River North location.
- The role offers flexibility for remote work on non-office days.
- Candidates should be able to travel locally for shoots if required.
